Tried to watch this show twice but Uhtred is one of the most unlikable retarded protags that it out me off. Should I persevere?

He gets a little bit better but honestly this is a result of them not tweaking the author's writing like they did with Sharpe.
TV show Sharpe is a lot more subtle and quick-witted than book Sharpe. The author probably feels like brutish soldiers are far more realistic and he's probably right. Just makes them hard to like at times.
