The adaptation angle doesn't matter in the slightest, as Battle Royale is a generic term now. So it has a high chance of being good just by nature of the automatic tension and drama that the formula provides.However you know Hollywood loves to subvert things and make them gay. They'll find a way to get away from the rules of the setup and instead make it about capitalism and trump or something.

The original Battle Royale manga had a ton of sex and nudity in it, due to one character being sex appeal and using her body as a means to seduce and murder them to acquire wealth and status. One part she takes a nerds virginity and slices his throat, while getting him to cum in the middle of his death spasms.
Sabrina Carpenter as the perky instructional video chick is a fun choice at least.
