I appreciate that even if the story was ridiculous, most characters played it straight and other than the whiny prince and a line from Patton and the evil wizard, it was sincere.

The practical effects are fun, but somehow it looks worse than early 2000s TV shows because it has the overly sharp digital look to it and shit tons of color grading / digital fog.It does at least feel like it was created with a bit of soul behind it, but clearly they removed all the masculinity while dialing up the gore. I don't know why it's fine to show a severed penis sitting on a pile of gore, but not a boob.Regardless, it felt refreshing to me to see something like this made and I hope more movies embrace practical effects.
