There is literally no good documentation that the Spaniards "exploited" the natives. It all comes from a few books which are well known for being extremely exaggerated for political reasons, most notably those by Bartolomé de las Casas who is a well-known liar who made up literally every single part of his books in order to gain power in the New World by claiming that the Spaniards were abusing the natives
Same thing the later "liberators" did, except those did it to sell the New World to England in exchange for riches beyond compare, as well as because they loathed the natives (most of them were castizos who had serious superiority complexes and hated the crown accepting mestizos as equals)
