>>216013687The movie is an adaptation of a best selling novel. The story is already known.
>>216014163>The story is already known.Reading the synopsis/plot on wiki it sounds like it would make an absolute KINO movie.Me as a sci fi and AYY fan who is straved for good movies, and I especially like hard sci fi, I am truly looking forward to it.

It's really a joke at this point playing dramatic pop song remixes in trailers. Also, I'm embarrased I didn' catch the lame quippy dialogue came from the same literary genius behind The Martian sooner.
>>216013557Looks good. I loved the book but the redditness of it was almost unbearable, hope the movie won't have any narration by Grace

What did they mean by this?
Fellow Weir Queers -- we are SO back!
>le slowed down epic remix of popular songI don't care I still like this cliche
>>216013557when will this trailer meme of drenching a popular song in reverb and setting it to orchestral instrumentation finally die?
>>216013702>Science teacher Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling) wakes up on a spaceship light years from home with no recollection of who he is or how he got there. As his memory returns, he begins to uncover his mission: solve the riddle of the mysterious substance causing the sun to die out. He must call on his scientific knowledge and unorthodox ideas to save everything on Earth from extinction… but an unexpected friendship means he may not have to do it alone.

>>216014163it would be a different experience if they haven't revealed that he meets a cute alien from the very first trailer, it spoils the tone of what otherwise might have felt more suspenseful. but w/e I'm sure the story develops from there.

>>216015618>>we are supposed to believe humanity got its shit together to solve a crisis like thisamerimutt unwilling to accept that the two key people saving the world are both white lol
>>216015618>inb4 there's a reason for that in the books).there is. He's not a random teacher. He used to be scientist who wrote a paper that relates to this stuff. He's basically the most qualified person
>>216015647To be fair, in the book he wasn't the first choice. He only got chosen because both of his replacements blew themselves up by accident. Not to mention Rocky was helping too and is probably just as instrumental in saving earth.
>>216013557im so tired of formulaic trailers with the slowed down pop songs
>>216015707The paper he wrote was basically an elaborate shitpost. Again, I can suspend my disbelief that she wanted specifically him due to this paper. I can even suspend my disbelief enough to believe that he also had that coma resistance gene. But every country working together? While completely sidelining economic interests and copyright? Come on man
fuck, underneath the "it's the heckin' martian again, guys, look!" way everything was presented.. can they actually do the book justice? Am I retarded for getting a bit optimistic?
>>216013557mite b cool
>>216015523E.T. appears before Elliot in that movie, at the very start, and is always positioned as a protagonist. this movie is very obviously structured around a first act that puts Ryan in space and he only meets Rocky after that. what this sacrifices is any mystery as to how well First Contact will go, or if aliens are even in the film let alone whether they're hostile. also it outs the movie as pretty light in tone, which means we basically go into the film reassured that Earth will be fine. might have been interesting to let us find out some of that stuff in the cinema is all I'm saying.
>>216015785>While completely sidelining economic interests and copyright? Come on manare you pretending to be retarded?

>>216013557The last space movie this guy was in, I took this totally hot chick to see and she said it was the most boring movie she'd ever seen. She was a big Goose fan too.I'm pretty sure she wouldn't fuck me because of this.
>>216014200Is it hard sci-fi if there s a Geodude-lookin alien?
>>216015924>I took this totally hot chick to see and she said it was the most boring movie she'd ever seen.obviously im not her but first man really was boring beyond belief
>>216015618>we are supposed to believe humanity got its shit together to solve a crisis like thisThe ginger woman is basically given absolute authority to do whatever it takes. There's no democracy to overcome, any pushback by civilians or other world leaders would be dismissed. Imagine 90% of the world leaders giving the head of WHO total and absolute control during a pandemic. Unlimited funding and essentially an unlimited pool of people and resource to implement whatever they say

It seems like "I fucking love science" nerd wish fulfillment. Andy Weir writing a story where an underachieving dork saves the human race.
>>216016104I can't believe it won that many either. but then I read the text properly.
>>216015962I may be using the term loosely but the idea of hard sci fi is shit that could happen in reality rather than idk, cape shit which is sci fi but fantastical. From the synopsis, the only thing that seems very far fetched is the fungus microbes eating the sun or whatever it was.It is very plausible that if a sun is dying and scientists are able to get there to fix it, any race that is able to get to the sun, would. If that means AYYS too. From the synopsis its not our sun the goose is going to either its the sun in the AYYs solar system.
Based PHM fan.

Looks like something reddit will love.
The book is incredibly shit. 800 pages of tripe. Borderline unreadable. 4.5 on goodreads. The world has gone mad.
>>216016641>The book is 800 pages! It just is okay!Grok?>The number of pages in Project Hail Mary varies by edition, but the hardcover and standard paperback versions are approximately 496 pages. The Kindle and ebook versions can have a different page count, such as around 482 pages.
>>216016305same as having a wife, just less expensive
>>216016735A lot of readers need to read most pages twice, so they double the page of books they're talking about to account for that.

>>216016177Ringworld is fucking trash, he wrote the whole thing with one hand on his dick.
>>216017521it has very little to nothing in common with that movie apart from the plot device of the sun dying. He doesnt even go to the sun, he goes to a different galaxy to find microbes. That is like saying terminator a rip off of the time machine because it uses time travel
I enjoyed the book but it's a guilty pleasure like ready player one. It's fun for a single read as long as you don't look for any subtext or anything clever, real basic soap opera shit. People saying it's amazing are children who haven't read many books or retarded. Most of the book is like when they put dramatic music over scenes in reality TV to force people to FEEL something about it, when really the writing doesn't actually deserve that feeling because it's so shallow. I predict the film will be a huge success and I will be annoyed by the fact.
James will save us from these dog shit movies. Avatar 3 will deliver.
>>216017580cope more, indian shill. It is not original movie or idea in any shape or form it is derrivative

The Goose will carry bros
Weir writes fine sci-fi but his sense of humor is so puerile that it's sad.The narrator of the book jokes about thinking he might be a pedophile (he wakes up with amnesia) and he remembers what his mission is after ripping a catheter out of his cock.
This will be the second role where Goose plays a schoolteacher and the second role where he plays an astronaut. It will very likely be the worst of the three films.
