Because he wants me to think he's a great actor instead of being a great actor.
He's not a bad actor. He's just not leading man material. He was best as a tranny in the Dallas Faggots Club. He's been consistently miscast as a villain or action movie hero and he's pretty useless as either.
Because he tends to overact or take his roles to extremes, which comes across as inauthentic. His performances lack subtlety, making it hard for the audience to connect with the character in a genuine way. Some of his roles, like the Joker in Suicide Squad, were too eccentric or forced, which overshadowed the emotional depth of the character. Additionally, Leto’s commitment to method acting, which includes staying in character off-set, is distracting and self-indulgent rather than enhancing the performance. In short, he doesn't care about the actual characters he portrays, he's only there to indulge his ego, and it's blaringly obvious to anyone who does care about the characters.
He needs to stop turning to the camera, whispering "I'm acting" and then winking at the audience.
