It should have been a gang of four, each from a different house. Do it again!
>>
I think this is one of those things that only english people could understand. its based on english school groups.
Simply put there is a house loyalty so in general at school people from different houses would not be mixing but competing against each other.
Not like 4 friends one from each house, it would be four friends of one house vs four friends from other houses.

you're in your fucking 40s dude

This is what bugged me about the Hogwarts Legacy game
>here's your designated Gryffindor friend
>and here's your Ravenclaw friend
>oh look a new friend from Hufflepuff
>and here's a friend from Slytherin but don't worry, they aren't a racist chud
>>
>>216016966
The plan was for Hermoine in Ravenclaw and Ron in Hufflepuff but Rowling realized it was too hard to keep the trio together if they were in different houses

They're together during classes, and then get together when on their adventures. You hardly have them in their dorms anyway.

That makes no sense really. The houses only share a dormitory and a quiditch team.
There is nothing really keeping them from doing stuff together other than bedtime.
>>
it seemed like the houses are split up in ways that would make it difficult for people from other houses to easily form friendships and hang out with each other. like the gryffindor guys shared bedchambers and common areas and you're just naturally going to more easily form friendships with people you have that kind of proximity with.

It's present all over the UK.

Houses are normal here, for example I'm from Scotland and my house at school was House Douglas.
My classes at secondary was not only grouped with ability, but ability within my own house.

So if I was in the top Maths group, it would be primarily (usually only) with other Douglus students in my year. Same goes for every other subject. So typically socially you'd just get to know your own house.

This was for a state (public) school too, it's probably even more hardcore for others.

Stuff like Houses, Prefects, Prefect badges, and so on are just normal parts of schools in the UK, it's not something JK Rowling made up for Harry Potter

I said english school groups because I am english but apart from unique private schools like montessory I think all the UK public and usual private schools use this system.
I cannot remember my house at primary school (was called infants and juniors then) but my secondary school houses were split into names of local hills as my city was in a valley surrounded by hills.
In primary school we got rewards at end of term and year for accumulated points, which they also have in the HP books but not really shown in the movies other than X points for/deducted from X house.
In secondary school like you said our subject groups were split into ability, but the students were all of the same house, and year. So while there were maybe 3 different year 7 X house classes, and in each class you knew your main class mates, then when maths is on, the 3 classes are split into ability...which is termed by tests of course.

This is classic english (british) school system stuff, probably been like this for centuries.

Personally i didnt take notice of it, or have any house loyalty at school I just took 1 day at a time and school was just an inconvenience to my real life, outside of school but I am/was aware of it.
Though I do remember their being some sort of peer bonding between younger and later years where older kids would take younger kids under their wing based on being from their same house.
Of course we all had same head of year teachers based on house too, though again I didnt take notice of it, they were just teachers to me.

Ron shouldn't have been in that scene. He didn't get punished unlike the other 3 + Neville.

You mean "fagging".
>>
>>216017014
thats exactly why a gang of 4 from 4 different houses makes it a better story.
>>
>>216017917
ours were local hills too, funnily enough, i don't remember them ever doing fuck all as competition or rewards though, it was just a way to split up the years into more manageable class sizes
>>
>>216018212
No, kids taking care of younger kids who are new to school, unsure or scared of their surroundings and helping them become acclimatized, help in sports, meeting people and knowing their surroundings.
its called HELPING.
Not being american where everything is about anal sex, as in being a faggot.
The idea of another human being helping someone in america means getting shot, anally raped or robbed by a nigger.

We here, we dont live in a third world shithole. Our children are generally taught to be good people, cherish others and have morality, ethics and good conduct.
of course there are exceptions but with christian morality as a foundation our country is not a third world shithole where our children are raping each other or shooting each other at schools. unlike american children.

I only remember there being rewards at primary (juniors) school.
Funny that I have more vivid memories of junior school than secondary school.
Like I said school was an inconvenience to me as my life was outside of school and by the time I started secondary school my life was hectic, I was earning money, chasing pussy and getting trashed on booze and weed, eventually class As before I left secondary school. School was like the least part of those years I was focused on.
I wasn't a regular everyday attender either.

>>216018320
That is akin to american frat shit, hazing.
no, that would probably only ever be in posh private schools and as you could imagine elitism is in those places. Like the HP movies (but with magical racial blood involved)
I mean the other way around. Like other kids in his house or class will be his friend and take care of him, make sure he gets to class, show him around, introduce him etc.
its just peer bonding and its based upon house segregation. Innately.
>>
The moment you start to think a little about the whole universe it all starts to collapse so kudos to Rowling for making it work somehow.

>Not Slytherin, not Slytherin...
>No Slytherin eh? You sure? You could be great. No? Then let it be... Hufflepuff!
>And so Harry´s life went on about without him ever standing out or ever getting into problems until he faded into the background as administrative employee number 3923 of the ministry of magic. He commited suicide on his 43 birthday but nobody noticed until half a month later. His last thought was about the smirk on that fucking hat...
