>>216017705The script fails miserably at making Nolte seem like he was in the wrong for withholding evidence since it then goes to show that the De Niro in all likelihood did those crimes in light of how vengeful and sadistic he was and so deserved to rot in prison all the same. And Nolte has so much more to lose (white upper-middle class family) than a no good bum with no prospects, that it furthers the contrast even more. Weak writing imo.
