>>216018633There is some sense to this, though I imagine von Trier misses the point. Some of the best works of art come from constraints that force the artist to be creative in other ways, such as story and characters. When you have no restrictions and no constraints, can fix it all in post, can hide in it flashy effects, there is no pressure to create a good story. Think of artists who had to work under Soviet Russia or the Hayes code, for instance. They had to really make something interesting because they couldn't just wow you with shallow shock value and sexual imagery. I'm not saying we should make everything in an artificially gimped primitive way, but I bet a film coming out of this has a higher chance of at least being original and interesting.
