Mills raises the gun at John Doe, teary eyed and anguished, but does not the pull the trigger. John Doe's zen expectation of death wavers. He opens his eyes. Mills lowers his gun. "No," Mill says, "I forgive you." Somerset is relieved, and gives Mills and knowing look of acknowledgement. John Doe becomes enraged, and charges at Mills, shouting, "No, you must become Wrath!" When Doe collides with Mills, the gun goes off. John Doe falls to the ground, his gut bleeding. Mills bends down and feels for a pulse. "He's still alive! Somerset, call an ambulance!" As they wait for the ambulance, Somerset recites the Bible: "Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me." Last shot from the helicopter as credits roll and "Ballad of Easy Rider" plays.
