How come this guy was in every major Hollywood movie and show for one year and then disappeared until this?

>What do you mean? He had multiple projects a year and then only 3 in the last 4 years, including dogshit which no one but me saw.
Why do you speak? Why are you alive?

I was exaggerating a bit and wasn't being literal. What I meant was: For a single year, it seemed like every major director in Hollywood was lining up to work with him, and he appeared in a lot of major films and shows, all of which were commercially succesful and garnered him critical acclaim and an instant fanbase. However, despite this ostensible single wonder year, he then began appearing mostly in smaller projects. However, these didn't seem to be passion projects or artsy things (as it usually goes with actors who had a few big hits (and made a lot of money) and then do smaller projects), but the kind of lower budget straight to VOD fare that is usually only interesting for out of work, starting actor who need a gig, on top of all of those flopping spectacularly, and him (despite being a sudden star) almost never appearing on the posters or as part of promo. Now his return as a lead in a film with a somewhat substantial budget in a film that was financed indepedently from Hollywood.

He carried the whole thing, the actress doing Lucy is good too and got an interesting role since they mixed her with Renfield, but in the end the director overdid and she became Dracula's Harley Quinn. Movie was not half bad except it copied Bram Stoker's Dracula in every scene - except when it copied Perfume. It seems Benson never read the novel, only watched Coppola's movie.

Anyway, yes OP, this guys has potential to be the next DeFoe. Hope things go right for him, we are in dire need for decent actors.
