I watched the Superman movie when it came out, and honestly, I was really disappointed. It's not a bad movie, but it's far from the best. The main issue is that there are too many characters, and the relationship with his parents isn’t developed deeply enough to make the ending feel earned. Also, I really don't like the idea of Superman’s parents being portrayed as evil.
>>
I don't understand why the actor who portrayed Lex Luthor was praised. He had anger issues, his motivations don't make any sense, and for being a corporation boss of his company, he didn't have any leadership skills, his followers just do what he asks of them without atonomy. I recently watched Man of Steel, just to compare them, Lois Lane in Man of Steel actually did the dirty work like shooting bad guys with an alien weapon and was an actual reporter. This new version of Lois Lane, she just talks (I guess flyinc the weird ball plane, but that's for comedic purposes).

>his motivations don't make any sense
He literally has a speech about why he is doing it. Out of all the things in the movie that you sort of have to infer, how the fuck do you fail to comprehend the source of Luthor's pettiness when he describes it out loud? Is this an ESL issue?
>>
>>216032342
I'm not sure it was a casting issue so much as a script and direction issue.
The same actor with a better script might have been a very good Lex, on the surface he's automatically superior to the previous Lex (jessie Eisenberg)
>>
>>216032403
Ok but why does Lex have to screech and cry like a woman?
>>
>>216032446
Because he is a comic book drama queen with a Napoleon complex in a one-sided crusade against a godlike being that only he understands the importance of. He LITERALLY says it out loud. Him being overly giddy, bitter, or angry only further highlights why he is doing any of it. Why would a stonewall face make this performance or character better? Why can't he shed a tear of seething anger when he is beaten? How is Lex Luthor crying a further step to the fall of Western civilization or whatever the autistic point you are trying to paint over here?
>>
>>216032542
Because the same people shitting on Jesse Eisenberg's portrayal of a neurotic wrathful Lex, are praising this neurotic wrathful crybaby portrayal.

Nobody likes annoying faggy crybaby men, not even other annoying faggy crybaby men.
>>
>saving the squirrel
cmon....why does Gunn think taking things to retarded levels is cute?
>>
>>216032671
>Because the same people shitting on Jesse Eisenberg's portrayal of a neurotic wrathful Lex
Stupid nigger I don't give a fuck about your fight with windmills in an attempt to elevate previous portrayals of the character. Where did I once compare him to Eisenberg?
A man who uses pocket dimension technology for the sake of a bot farm and a personal gulag is allowed to be temperamental over a molecularly dense man foiling the plan he had been cooking up for several years. I swear to God if your entire argument is just going to boil down to "BUT THEY SHAT ON SNYDERINO FOR WHAT I PERCEIVE TO BE THE SAME PORTRAYAL," I'm going to flip a tit.
>>
>>216032791
Go ahead and flip a tit, retard. Seems like the Gunn version of Lex is a perfect fit for your bitchy feminine temperament.
>>
>>216032247
it was just okay. it did the thing where it crammed in too many other characters, but I guess I can excuse it because we got Guy Gardner on the big screen.

>I watched the Superman movie when it came out, and honestly, I was really disappointed.
I could spot the Indian English from Catalog.
Some sentences you just know.
I've never seen a non-white anon in one of these threads.

>Gunn version of Lex is a perfect fit for your bitchy feminine temperament.
Funny you say this since you are irritated over Eisenberg getting bleated over what you claim to be the same performance. I have no idea what kind of ESL autist you need to be to interpret tears of anger as effeminate, but then again, I don't think I'm talking to a rational being since you are struggling with grasping Lex's ambition despite him verbatim saying what he is angry about. And that's if we discount that Lex Luthor has been around for 80 years and this ego-driven inferiority complex towards Superman has been part and parcel to the character longer than you have been alive.

they are. Look at pic related, it's Lex seething with anger. Do you see him crying any bitch tears? No. That's a you thing and a Gunn thing. Because Gunn is a cunt.

>they are
>bitch tears
You are insecure ESL, you can't help but interpret seething hatred of Lex towards Superman as hatred so boiling and bitter that it causes him to shed tears as effeminate. Despite it being a well-known stress response to rage. You don't need to double down on being an autistic nigger who can't compute human emotions, I've already got it.
>Look at the another numerous interpretations of Lex over the years
Again, you stupid fucking autist, where are you going with it? Not only is this just Lex's default expression in League, but why are you again bringing up completely unrelated portrayals and pretending that him slightly adjusting his eyebrows conveys the same level of hatred as Hoult burning him with a stare so visceral and spiteful it makes Lex cry out of all the bitter anger he feel over being beaten?
Conversely, why aren't you comparing him to a fruity and jovial Hackman then? Shouldn't he be like him too? Where is Otis? Where is his whacky nephew and 1920 car and getup with him sitting on filing cabinets like a kid?

MoS Lois is an actual investigative reporter, she found Superman doing grunt work. She has a conflict with colonel Hardy who tried to stop her from getting to the Arctic base. Then he shields her from Faora. She interviews an African warlord in BvS. Amy Adams did a great job and her Lois is well-written thanks to Snyder. Snyder writes excellent female characters, not girlbosses.

Man of Shit Lois is a stupid walking plot device.
Lois in Superman is an actual character doing actual journalism

oh, I'm sorry. it was jsut a comedic post, my bad

It was ok. Kind of felt like an early attempt at capeshit. Things that dragged it down for me:
>The initial fight that introduced the justice gang just felt extremely dated.
>The song during Mr. Niggerific's set piece.
>The Lois Lane character being LE DEVIL'S ADVOCATE under the guise of journalism and "I'm just not really into him" (until the end). So original.
>Portal dimension and monkey shills.
>AI bad video leak = everyone turns on Superman and the media not hounding him for his side of the story.
>Hawkgirl is kind of worthless unless you're were already a coomer of hers.
I did like:
>Mr. Terrific's set piece just not the background music. Gunn just didn't use good music in this one.
>Alan Tudyk
>The supes use of powers later in the movie.
>Hoult's Lex
>Eve only pretending to be retarded.
I'll take this over Snyderjeet's excessively long panning shots and multiple blatant jesus allegories. The amount of focus on those two things were just kind of insulting. I'm not a dumb street shitter that needs it constantly spelled out for me.

Superman 2025 is one of the worst superhero movies of all times. James Gunn, who excels in directing overdone violence, out of place quips, undeserved melodrama and perverted sex obsession brings all his trademark traits to this rendition of Superman. This isn't a Superman movie, it's a Marvel/Guardians of Galaxy movie with Superman in the middle of it. In fact, Gunn seems to enjoy writing Justice Gang far more than he does writing Superman. The former which ran off two jokes that were repeated ad nauseam throughout the movie.

What makes Superman a compelling character is gone in Gunn's sloppy adaption. He's not particularly strong, he's not particularly wise, he's a poor leader, he's extremely narcissist and gets easily emotional. And this is supposed to be a seasoned Superman. It's almost like Gunn was projecting his own shitty flawed character on to Superman. The only missing touch would be if Lois was a minor.

The action scenes are just a complete mess of CG blob. Superman is basically a rag doll that gets thrown all over the place and nothing in this movie has weight or meaning to it, particularly in its action. There's a scene where Lois and Mr Terrific break into enemy HQ and the whole ordeal is of course settled with a very catchy music montage of all the enemies being dismantled with utter ease. The next scene is of Clark trying to keep a CGI baby from drowning in lava with his deus ex dog arriving in timely manner to save him again. This is straight out of a Marvel movie and has no place in a Superman movie.

This rendition of Lex is also his most shallow depiction. There is no nuance or intelligence to this Lex. He's not particularly shrewd and constantly spills out his plans for everyone to find out. He throws into temper tantrums just like Superman and starts to sob and cry because Superman is better than him. Where is the elegance and intelligence of Luthor? This is basically a spoiled rich kid battling another spoiled strong kid. 1/10, MCU slop.

I wasn’t a big fan of the guy before, but in the movie, he was actually pretty funny. Still, the film itself felt unfocused with all those heroes crammed in.

>>216033124
fuck you, I’m not Indian, I’m Italian, and I’m not a Snyder fan. I even dislike Man of Steel. But I can still see the problems in Gunn’s movie as well.

It's a shit movie praised by the standard capeshit enjoyers who had their mouth wide open at Avengers
>>
>>216032247
It's very much a James Gunn movie. Even though it is tuned down for his standards.
The whole movie is very loud. Not literally, but it's just constant action, stupid high stakes, plenty of characters who really don't need to be there, it's overstuffed.

People talk about Superman's Kryptonian parents being made evil, disliking that. I was fine with that. It added to the core theme of the movie (which should have been given even more focus imo)
One thing I didn't like was Clark's human parents. They're way too redneck. Clark is a sophisticated man who graduated college and became and intelligent journalist, it doesn't make sense for his parents to be ugly, white trash of that degree.

In general in films I like slower, and quiet moments and well-executed themes. In this way Superman 2025 doesn't hold a candle to Superman 1978.
I still enjoyed the movie. But I am a huge Superman fan, I buy his comics, he's one of my favorite fictional characters. So I don't know how much my enjoyment of it would extend to other people.

Wonder Woman 2017 is still the best superhero movie I've watched, honestly.
>>
>>216036275
Oh I should mention, another thing I didn't like about this movie was how it isn't kid appropriate.
I love Superman, so I'm fine a Superman movie or show being geared towards people my age or older, but I also think as a character Superman means a lot more to children than he can mean for adults.

The swearing, though not that frequent, did take me out of the film. I thought it was unnecessary.
>>
>>216036318
>The swearing, though not that frequent, did take me out of the film. I thought it was unnecessary.

Oh brother. Go watch some 80s kids movies, they had even more swearing than what was seen here.
>>
>>216036318
I think you are right, but the thing I missed the most was clarck relationship with his parents. I want to see them raise him and make him a better man, but they exist just for like 5 minutes in the movie
>>
>>216036379
Definitely. The movie needed more time exploring Clark as a person.
We don't really see him as a journalist, we don't really see why or how Lois and Clark fell in love, we don't see Clark/Superman's relationship with Jimmy at all.

Honestly I think the Daily Planet dynamic is often more compelling than Superman as an adventuring superhero.
>>
people who defend gunn are mindbroken. they think in binary thinking, like there's only 2 versions of why someone wouldnt like this shit ass movie.
