there's no reason not to simply have both. For every Batman TAS/timm show in general there was a Tiny Toons/Animaniacs/Freakazoid/Pinky and the Brain. For every Batman Beyond and Avatar there was an early kino Spongebob or Angry Beavers. And a lot of the best shows were a hybrid between 'cute' and 'dark' like Teen Titans, Jackie Chan Adventures, Xiaolin Showdown, My Life as a Teenage Robot, arguably some 90s stuff like The Tick, Sonic Saturday morning or ReBoot.We have one single good cute/cozykino show and like nothing else. It's not that the cute show needs to go anywhere, we just need more than one good western cartoon per fucking decade.
I never liked Batman Beyond because it was a really depressing and bleak future where almost nothing Bruce did mattered, Terry was a lame protagonist, his batsuit looks goofy and the future aesthetic was a lot less cool than the modern mixed with early 1900's Gotham we had in Batman the Animated Series
