I’ve noticed confusion regarding the game and it’s lore. as such, here: the triforce was first illustrated in zelda 1’s concept art as a glowing yellow circuit board. the three pieces are courage, wisdom, and power. when all three are joined, it gives the wielder the ability to change the world of hyrule to their own making. in essence, giving the wielder admin access to the computer program rendering the video game and the world of hyrule. link, the hero, wields the triforce of courage, which is a digital connection between the user/player and the hero. which is literally why he’s called link. the triforce of wisdom is the software or source code of the video game. this is inherited by the first born princess of hyrule, who is always named zelda. she literally has root access in the computer of any zelda game. the triforce of power is the symbolic conduit of power or energy source of the computer rendering hyrule. this is typically born into the first born male of the gerudo tribe. this conduit is effectively useless without the other two, as disrupting the power source of your reality means death for all, including yourself. thus the triforce of power and it’s wielder yearns for the other two. this base lore, like the light of valar, is the foundation of almost all zelda games. it presents as a typical modern fantasy, but is actually appropriate and profound for a video game. furthermore, the master sword, as shown in SS, is nothing more than a computer program with admin access. an AI meant to help and guide the hero of any story. link himself, a mute, has literally no agency at all whatsoever. his actions are your actions. his left hand guided by the goddesses through the triforce of courage by you, the user of the computer program. his entire existence is lain out by a preprogrammed and linear branch of decisions dictated by the goddesses, ie the game designers, and navigated by you.
