>Gero will serve as writer, executive producer, and showrunner on the new “Stargate.” Executive producers also include Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell for Safehouse Pictures as well as Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich, who co-wrote the original film which Emmerich directed. Brad Wright and Joe Mallozzi, longtime creative leaders within the “Stargate” universe, will serve as consulting producersits not a reboot
>>216038792It's all femslop Stargate is over.
>>216038834oh dear
wonder if any of these producer credits will actually have any input or if they're just because of previous work on the franchise they need to credit them.

i know it's unthinkable but on the day this slop drops there will be dozens of SGU apology threads flooding the log. you have no idea just how bad things are going to get, the communication stone soap opera will seem like pure distilled kino in comparison

I don't fucking care how bad this is, SGU will still fucking suck. No it did not magically "get better" in Season 2. The whole thing was worthless start to finish.
>>216039108I've always liked SGU simply because it wasn't SG-1 But Blue Filter! like Atlantis was.Rush, the Psychotic Sergeant, and pretty much all the side chars were kino. Even Chloe was decent in season 2
>>216041874sgu occurred when the downfall of kino had just begun. it was trash just like everything that would follow it but the people in charge of casting were still allowed to cast babes and the cast for sgu was filled with them. never forget what they took from us
>>216038792The way they'll fuck it up should be pretty interesting. Should be good for some laughs, anyway. Maybe the general will be a sassy black woman who tells the evil CIS aliens to "talk to the hand".
It should be a reboot closer to the tone of the film. Stargate SG-1 has too much bad idea baggage.
>>216041931
>>216038892Roland Emmerich has been attached to almost all the discussion of this at Amazon, and he is vocal about his hate of SG1. For Amazon to then attach Brad Wright and Joe Mallozzi as consulting producers just tells me they are hiring them to attempt to get the old fandom onboard. It will be just another spite based show written by writers that hate having to adapt other peoples work with showrunners that despise the fanbase.
>>216041874Atlantis had the charm of early season SG-1 at a time when it was clear that everyone involved with SG-1 didn't give a fuck anymore. It was miles better than SGU.
>>216042257Atlantis was too derivative and just felt like temu SG1 to me at the time. I didn't watch it until many many years after it had finished. But hey I did eventually watch it which is more than I can say about the Ori seasons of SG1.
>>216042313Seasons 9 and 10 of SG1 were actually far superior to seasons 7 and 8. Retards like you will go on with "no oneil no watchy" but what you fail to realize is RDA was completely checked out of the show by the end of season 6. He hardly ever interacted with other characters in the show through seasons 7-8 because they would shoot all of his scene in like a day and then cut them all in throughout the episode to make it seem like he was present. He was basically a background character at that point and it was distractedly bad. With seasons 9 and 10 at the very least you had a lead actor that was enthusiastic about his work. Additionally seasons 9 and 10 produced the best SG1 episode next to Window of Opportunity, Bad Guys.
>>216039062because he worked on SGA and SGU
>>216042449They were definitely superior to 1 and 2, or Star Trek Lite. Those seasons before Stargate found it's footing were rough.
>>216038792It’s literally impossible to do a non-reboot well. They should have taken the good stuff from the movie and SG-1 and done a modern day reboot.
>>216042449>vomit is better than fecesNobody thinks season 7-8 were good either. Stop arguing against straw men.
GOOOLD?
>>216039108we may have been too hard SGU.wouldn't it be great to have an episodic with sporadic arcs again though?
>>216042638Every thing I have heard is the series won't be a reboot or continuation of the sg1 timeline, its going to pretend like sg1 never happened and continuing on some time after the end of the movie. They even had James Spader attached at one point. Best case scenario it is a faithful continuation of the movie. It isn't going to give a shit about SG1 or Atlantis.
>>216042449>fail to realize is RDA was completely checked out of the show by the end of season 6This isn't RDA's problem. The problem is they had several false endings:>Season 6 was gonna be the ending, then they were gonna do a TV movie to cap things off.>Then season 7 was gonna be the ending, with a TV movie idea again.>Then they debated doing Atlantis and the SG-1 cast would basically transfer to a new show.>Then SGA became a full spin off and they didn't do that.People checked out because they were looking for an ending for the show and/or a transition into something new and wouldn't let it die. That being said, 7-8 had some alright episode and 9-10 are still overshadowed by just how shit the Ori stuff was.
>>216042701we were not too hard on SGU, it was terrible and it desperately wanted to be BSG
>>216042729>This isn't RDA's problemIt definitely was RDA's problem. He did not want to be there and he let it hurt the show.
>>216042748Anon, did you just not read anything I said? This is a producer issue more than anything. He hung on because they promised an ending and he wanted to do the right thing. But instead they had a few false endings. So of course he began to contractually phone it in. And then you come along and blame him like the lightning rod and ignore the behind the scenes creative issues that caused him to act like that.
>>216038792how do you get to be a showrunner?is it really about being a leftist?
>>216042823
>>216042799When you say wrong things and people disagree with you, it's not because they didn't read the wrong things you said.
>>216042799The behind the scenes issues were that he had a daughter and wanted to be a present father. The show was filmed in Canada and his family lived in Malibu. The studio was worried about losing their lead so they lightened his filming obligations. I agree the producers were to blame as well, they mishandled the entire situation, but it is clear the Character of O'Neil basically didn't exist in seasons 7 and 8, and it hurt the show.
Hammond of Texas will be a sassy black general screenshot this
>>216038792The design for this new TV series is clearly ancient
>>216042869if it's a cute stacked kween nobody will complain about itscreenshot this
Since this is being made, pitch your unused Stargate continuation ideas.Mine would be taking place in current time. The Stargate program is still secret. A frustrated Daniel Jackson thought that it would have been public by now, or at the very least, humanity at large (other than the military) would have benefited from their discoveries, which are still all mostly classified and restricted to military endeavors. We saw some of this with the trust, Alec the billionaire, and Cameron's old training buddy but for the most part, it's been 20-30 years of the Stargate program being used to make weapons. He's at odds with the military types, mainly O'Neill and Carter. Carter is more likely to see his point as a scientist but still feels keeping the public in the dark is the right thing to do. O'Neill doesn't think the public can handle it but does often think of the time that journalist got killed in front of him. General Hammond assured him that it wasn't them who did it. Mitchell is on Jackson's side, seeing how his buddy was provided peace by technology not normally available to the public at large.Teal'c is having problems with the Jaffa Nation as usual. A whole generation of Free Jaffa have been born now. However, due to the circumstances of their birth, they are basically regular humans now with all the weaknesses and more importantly, lifespan of humans. Unless I forgot something, Tretonin doesn't provide the lifespan extension. Young Jaffa wonder if they will ever be allowed to determine their own future, the Council is made up exclusively of Jaffa who will live to the average of 100+ years. Nobody has heard from Destiny since the last episode of SGU, they are assumed dead and that something went wrong, given that the stasis would have taken 3 years.
>>216042863Anon, you're the one who basically claimed RDA ruined season 7 and 8 whilst ignoring any producer/writer or anyone else. And you think I am wrong...>>216042868>The behind the scenes issues were that he had a daughter and wanted to be a present father.Sure, those were a big part of it. They really did have the false ending problem like I described, which many TV shows have had too. I would liken it a bit to situations like The Walking Dead where the main actor, for similar reasons, wanted to leave. And then was promised an ending.. which they did eventually get to years later (and it was terrible). A bunch of shows have had the false ending problem, when threat of cancellation or natural ending is glossed over. >I agree the producers were to blame as well, they mishandled the entire situationthat was all I was trying to get across to the other anon.
>>216042933>Don S Davis trying not to laugh and break character.
>>216038834lmao the beatings will continue until morale improves
>>216042930>Since this is being made, pitch your unused Stargate continuation ideas.I have no fucking idea. The problem is, the Tau'ri at this point is too powerful with Asgard and Ancient tech. Focusing on established stuff would make it too difficult for new viewers. Everything would kind of feel like a rehash. But I don't particularly want a reboot that just does overarching plots over 8 episodes or something.
>>216042933Nobody but RDA is responsible for his performances. And his acting seeming like someone was holding a gun to his head started before season 7. You're a fucking retard.
>>216038792Blindspot was the sloppiest of late 2010's network TV. And I actually watched it until it ended. You really don't want that guy as the showrunner of your TV show.
>>216042930They can't continue SG1/Atlantis/SGU. Brad Wright has been pitching his ideas to Amazon since they acquired the IP and they all told him to fuck off, saying they want to take it in a "fresh" direction. It is either going to be a complete reboot of the entire series(including the original movie) or it will be a continuation of the movie itself.
>>216042930The conflict comes when it's discovered that the reason the Stargate program is still a secret for decades is because there IS a black ops type team that kills anyone who gets too close to the truth and decides to leak it. Unbeknownst to Hammond of course or any of the SGC. More like a NID/Trust type situation. If you think about it, it would have to be something like this. How many people know about the Stargate and aliens? Joe the Barber, who tells stories that line up with things that have actually happened, some of them on Earth. An entire naval carrier group was destroyed when Anubis attacked Earth, those people have families, not all of them would buy a training accident. Not to mention all the Trust and NID people still alive, or the people they contracted to get rich and make technology off of. Atlantis is still on Earth, having been at the center of geopolitical shitstorm since it's a super powerful weapon/city that landed in California. Every country that knows of it wants it out of the US, the US obviously has kept it there. Pegasus is still fighting the Wraith, but they are not a unified force at all, having long ago fallen to infighting between Hives. I know a lot of this sounds like political bullshit and it is but I would still have the gate activate at LEAST once an episode and they go to planets that all look like Canada, or preferably higher budget places. The big bad would be revealed to be a new form of life, an alien that started out as energy but then learned to take physical form, like a reverse Ancient. This new alien would be very powerful, but not all powerful. In the end it would be revealed to be one of the Planet Builders from SGU, tipped off to the presence of humanity once Destiny landed their people on their planet. It took them this long to come to Earth because like the Ancients, they are not all powerful and can't teleport anywhere they want instantly, given that the distance spans galaxies.
>>216043099This alien's human form will be the head of the agency killing civilians/military personnel who are at risk of leaking the Stargate to the public. There will be some kind of reason they don't just wipe out everyone using their powers, maybe they want to make humanity suffer for spoiling their garden, maybe they don't want to fight all the Ancients 1 on 1. Anyways that's my fanfic.
>>216043056>And his acting seeming like someone was holding a gun to his head started before season 7Strawman, I never said or implied that.>Nobody but RDA is responsible for his performances.Sure he is responsible for his performance but you're the one acting like only he was responsible for how the whole show was in those two seasons.Anon, I am truly sorry you're autistic and don't understand human nature. But when people talk about a show ending, when contracts are involved, when you have life and other concerns happening, then yes, people make human decisions and might pbone in a performance or two. But there are structures around that system to change things, other people responsible, a show is not made by one person, but a whole team of creatives, that's what credits mention. And you come along and blame one man for two seasons of a television show, you refuse to listen to the context, and you sperg out at random anons. You don't know anything.
>>216042247>Roland EmmerichAh yes. The man who made a "Godzilla" movie where Godzilla runs away for the entire movie and is a girl and has a vagina. This is gonna go great.
>>216043038>But I don't particularly want a reboot that just does overarching plots over 8 episodes or something.Let me guess, a dark 8 part series, overarching plot, at least one episode that goes full horror or something, devoid of comedy, some body horror, dark , sexy, exciting Goa'uld. Someone in the writers room will have mentioned Game of Thrones but with Goa'uld, at least once.
>>216043199Roland Emmerich has always been a poor man's Speilberg. He has always wanted his films to be the big quintessential blockbuster or have Speilberg schmaltz and yet has always failed at it.
Some of you anons are alright, don't go to P4C-970 tomorrow.
>>216043288Like two years ago I gated there everyday for a month just to take my morning shit. About 30 meters NNW of the console.
>>216043160>I never said or implied that.go read your argument you dumb fuck, of course you said that, everything you said was about season 7-8
He won.
>>216043353I list out a bunch of things that went on, you don't address anything I say because you're a coward. You can't even just say "Oh yeah the producers and writers did also have some issues during those seasons." Because at this point, you have to keep doubling down.
Wow, I've been busy all day and just saw this news. I hope they don't delete the original show's timeline and go from what already exists. Even though humans are like FTL capable and everything, they could just build on the future and make up some new threats like with the Ori. Even if most of the original cast is gone, maybe they can make some cameos, idk, but they can still have a soft reboot while respecting the original shows, and it looks like some of the original producers are involved in consulting roles at least.
>>216043239>Someone in the writers room will have mentioned Game of Thrones but with Goa'uld, at least once.I mean you could actually do some interesting things with the System Lords if you did that...
>>216043476Don't give them ideas.
>>216043455Kill yourself.
>>216043459Amazon are not gonna trot out old actors for cameos or do anything post Ori with Earth spaceships. It is gonna go straight back to fighting Goa'uld.>and it looks like some of the original producers are involved in consulting roles at least.I wish this meant something, but it doesn't these days.
>>216042930>Since this is being made, pitch your unused Stargate continuation ideasSeinfeld, but with Stargate characters
>>216043545>Tok'raThe reboot should have an episode with the Tok'ra, only they are all hot women with big tits and they have an orgy.
>>216042257Atlantis was the Rodney McKay show - the character is the only thing that saved the show from total mediocrity. Shepard wasn't charismatic-enough, Ford was boring, Teyla was obnoxious, Ronon has potential but wound up just being Teal'c with dreads and a neat gun, the Wraith were stupid, the Genii were almost interesting, but quickly became one-note, the Asuran's were just a rehash of the worst chapter of SG1's replicators, etc. McKay made the show worth watching - he was that good of a character - but there's really nothing else going for it.

>>216043613They aren't even going to call them the Goa'uld. They will just be like Ra in the original movie. Weird aliens that can possess human bodies with their energy.
