Earthbound in Frasier!
>>216039307Fun Fact: Jim Steinman wrote Total Eclipse of the Heart for Meatloaf, but the label wouldn't pay him. Their relationship ending is what caused the downturn in Meatloaf's career.
Why did seasons 6-11 have to suck? The Niles/Daphne shit made it feel more like Friends than Frasier.
>>216039535The gay Patrick Stewart episode was funny
o kurwa
>>216039535I think being chosen to take over the "Seinfeld" time slot (season 6 starts with a meta joke about this where Frasier makes a speech about the big shoes he had to fill) put more pressure on them to pull stunts to get viewers, so they amped the Niles/Daphne thing from a running gag into a full-on soap opera plot.I don't think this show was ever really good at arcs. They were at their strongest when the writers just concentrated on carefully-constructed farces, but relationship drama was boring as far back as the Mercedes Ruehl character in season 3.>>216039608Season 11 was kind of a return to form in some ways. They hired back Christopher Lloyd (no, not that one) and Joe Keenan to showrun and did a bunch of "Frasier's Greatest Hits" episodes, like the "mistaken for gay" episode and the two-part Maris episode (she sort of faded out of the show when they introduced her clone Mel) and generally tried to get back to basics as much as they could.
>>216039608It was. The show never lost its touch entirely, but as >>216039780 said, when they tried to make it a soap opera it suffered.

This is a Game Boy Color you can play. Even has a ROM.https://edward-la-barbera.itch.io/frasier-fantasy
>>216039780>when the writers just concentrated on carefully-constructed farcesA lot of those episodes were hit or miss, particularly because so many of them felt unfair. Frasier was fundamentally a good guy, despite how they played up him being a snob, and it was incredibly tiring to see him constantly punished and humiliated over misunderstandings, while genuinely disgusting characters got away with their bullshit. Half of time, he was punished for doing the right thing.
>>216040636I'm a Cyrano man.
The last season of Frasier was like Frasier-distilled to its perfect form. They pulled out all the stops to make almost every episode not a throw-away episode, like all the prior seasons.
>>216040713>>216040801"..Hello, I'm the Ice Cream Man. Years ago I went to school with Nigel Fairservice. We used to romp in the fens and spinnies..."

>>216041458yet, none of them ad the 'coat rack' physique of Maris. https://youtu.be/-7u7RXCcQqo
>>216041137It’s like being autistic. You can mean well and try to do the right thing. But people will always see you as different and punish you for it.
>>216041458That's rather the point. Frasier is a balding 41 year old man, but every woman he dates is a bombshell.
>>216041779I meant Daphne and Roz. He doesn't date them.
>>216041779He’s a rich, famous, tall, white man, at that point balding is irrelevant for women.
>>216041800He had sex with Roz once, never with daphne. Well I spoiled that, I suppose.
>>216041817True
>>216041779He’s just like me
>>216041817>famous
>>216039307Frasier should have gotten back together with Lilith in the last season
>set your show in seattle>have it not resemble seattle in any way whatsoever
>>216041859Yes, there was a point where he ceased to be famous for an episode. The whole show is designed to lampoon the lives of famous people, even if you don't think Frasier in particular is especially famous
>>216041875and this is why Portlandia was the superior showset in a superior town and far more authenticbetter actors too
>>216041875I think the show's under-the-table promoters, like Bill Gates (who appears on the show, and is mentioned on the show multiple times), were trying to use it as a vehicle to promote their home town. But, to no avail...
>>216039307That Game Stinks!
>>216041875Studio audience sitcoms are shot almost entirely on interior sets, so the choice of location is basically just to be able to say "here's where it takes place" (and also for establishing shots, but Frasier made a big deal of not using establishing shots).Cheers was set in Boston, The Mary Tyler Moore Show in Minneapolis, The Bob Newhart Show in Chicago, etc. Frasier producers were just following the tradition of trying to find a place that hadn't been used to death like New York. The weird thing about the '90s is that after the success of Seinfeld and Friends, virtually every new sitcom was set in New York even when there was absolutely no reason for it.
>>216042004can't believe they made the straightest character played by a gay man gaywoke has gone too far
>>216041886He's locally famous. Everyone who meets him says "Frasier Crane from the radio?" Nobody has heard of him outside Seattle and a few people in Boston, but he and the other KACL hosts are Seattle celebrities and enjoy the perks of it like getting good restaurant tables and such.
