I don't remember if they referred to faster-than-warp travel as "transwarp" anywhere in TNG, but they explore the concept several times in voyager, mostly with the Borg and their conduits, but also with the Voth who travel at transwarp through free space. and there's one where voyager meets hedonistic space-folders, though assumably they had to travel through normal warp first to set up the end to end folding mechanisms.
