this never made any sense
>>
>>216047966
Clunky line but it makes sense, it’s also obviously what happens in the film
>>
>>216047985
It doesn't make sense because you don't just have 2 options.

What if I don't die a hero and just end up being forgotten? What if instead of dying a villain, I live long enough to see myself become the hero instead?

It's just cheap foreshadowing because it obviously applies to the guy saying it.

Batman doesn't become the villain
>>
>>216047966
i think it has to do with "power corrupts"
>>
>>216048163
yea lines out of context sure are weird
>>
>>216048250
The context for a line that applies pretty much just to him? The line wasn't about him in context.
>>
>>216047966
You are looking too far into it, ESL.
>>
>>216048163
maybe the quote isnt about you after all
>>
>>216048265
the line directly before it was about julius ceasar, and we don't know what he would've done had not be killed, thus he died the villain.
>>
>>216048290
And Caesar was only brought up because Dent said democracy doesn't work in times of crisis, therefore making Batman useful even though he wasn't elected.

I ask again, how does that line apply here? The line was not specifically about Caesar.

Donald Trump
>>
>>216047966
a half baked idea
like everything nolan makes
>>

>The line was not specifically about Caesar.
yes it was. as it ignored other roman dictators who took up the mantle when needed and then laid it down when the job was done.
>>
>it's always darkest before the dawn

Uhh I don't think so
>>
>>216048290
Caesar was loved by the Roman people who were outraged by his murder.
>>
>>216048463
populists tend to be well loved, yes. even when they're the start of the inexorable decline of an empire.
