>>

It is the highest form of theatrical art. Few can do it well.

>Why are there so few musicalkino movies?
Because it's off putting. You are immersed in the story and then Bam they start singing and dancing out of the blue, there's no universe where sane people do that, it's just crazy. I started crying each time that happened when I was a kid, the parents had to stop making me watch Disney animus lol

Le Mis made some odd casting choices (or gambles). If they had gotten better singers, it might have started a new trend.
Cats killed it for good.

Was there a lot of singing in the Beauty and Beast remake? Never saw it, but that Gaston song was fun.
And there was Dear Evan Hanson, which I only know about through Jenny Nicholson.

Hamilton is pretty good, but it is just the stage version filmed.

Rock of Ages is great. I keep going back to that for a good time.

>muh realism
all movies are unrealistic unless you only ever watch documentaries
>>
>>216050180
It's not at all about realism, it's about continuity.

>there's no universe where sane people do that, it's just crazy
Could have sworn you were talking about realism
>>
>>216050180
documentaries are the least realistic of movies
>>
>>216050255
wrong. docus do not adhere to formalism as much as other genres of movies like musicals do.

Then you misunderstood. Imagine you are going to buy a car, you are negociating with the vendor and he starts doing push ups out of nowhere, it's as real as it gets, right before your eyes, yet it's so wtf it puts you off buying a car.
>>
>>216050212
you know there are multiple styles of movies and they can exist next to each other, right?
>>
>>216050346
>push ups stop you from buying a car
Afraid of catching toxic masculinity?
>>
>>216050180
you don't understand anon, when a male main character effortlessly kills 900,000 evil henchmen using guns and kung fu, he is literally me.
singing and dancing is something no one actually does in real life.

DO YOU HEAR THE PEOPLE SING
>>
>>216049478
LaLaLand
>>
>Little Shop of Horrors
>Fiddler on the Roof
>South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut
Those are the big 3 for me.

I really liked Evita. I watched it once, but the music and imagery stayed with me for a good long while,
including the bulges in the shower during "Peron's Latest Flame".
But really, a well-written musical combined with some great cinematography and hit-or-miss acting. I tear up thinking about it.

>Fiddler On The Roof

don't get why that's so popular, the only banger is the Matchmaker song.
my best guess is that large numbers of idiots thought orthodox Jews singing and dancing was inherently hilarious.

Musicals are gay

I really wish the movie version of Into The Woods was better

To Life is kino thoughever
>>
>no mention of jesus christ superstar
not very cool of you /tv/
>Why are there so few musicalkino movies?
the lion king became the highest grossing stage musical ever and ruined everything the same way marvel/disney slop ruined the film industry. theres very few good musicals anymore because slop makes more money. i dont think ive liked anything made after the year 2000 besides hamilton.
>>

>Sweeney Todd Demon Barber of Fleet Street
>Little Shop of Horrors
>Phantom of the Opera
Next time you want musical recommendations you can just ask

VOLCANO MAN
Volcanic Protector Man

That movie is American dog shit. Complete incapable of writing subtle comedy
>what if a boat full of people blew up!? xD
>what if their performance goes so wrong that things catch fire and explode!? xD
>what if the bad guy literally tries to straight up murder them? xD
Father Ted’s A Song for Ireland is a strictly better Eurovision parody
>>
>>216049478
because musicals are peak gay, bollywood should have what you desire in spades though
>>
>>216049478
This board should have a theater general but unfortunately it would probably die quickly every time.
