Ah so that's why it's the Perfect Organism. It was a skeleton all along, it was literally a Necromancer in space and the key to immortality and DNA manipulation.

I will never understand Alien fans. Maybe I'm not an insectfag.

Trve Alien fans don't consider Cameron's garbage canon.

This movie has somehow miraculously aged well. Aliens is my #2 favorite movie all time. I had skipped AvPR all these years until this week. I saw Badlands and recently Alien Earth. AvPR is better than Alien Earth. Sure it's shot too dark but if you get past that it's an ironically kino slasher movie that pulls literally zero punches.
>>
>>216052765
The practical effects are really great. The acting is really painful in parts but it’s insanely violent. Glad I saw it on Christmas when it came out
>>
>>216052765
Goddamnit I thought you posted AVP1. The only "good" thing AVP2 has going for it is that it's unapologetically dark both literally and metaphorically
>girlfriend dies, just like that. No fanfare, no oh woe is me, just dead
>Pregnant infirmary scene
>Kid gets facehugged in the intro
>Redneck town full of rednecks get ayylmao'd
>In the end everyone gets NUKED to contain the infestation ... except the government does it and the heroes die in the end.
It was like Alien 3's darkness, but without the artistry behind it and somehow caring even less for the characters.
>>
>>216052811
Re-watch it now that you have seen Alien Earth. Your ranking of it will go up.
>>
>>216052997
No shit. This is why I started using negative numbers because otherwise I'd have to rank everything past 2008 an objective 0/10

If you want sloppa then there's AVP1 and Killer of Killers which miss the whole point of Predators being hunters. Fucking Samurai Jack has a better Predators episode than the actual franchise past Predator 2.
>>
>>216052765
The problem is the bar for quality has dropped so far that mediocre shit from the 2000s seems like a masterpiece.
>>
I think the xeno with the visible skull eyes is more unnerving than the final prduct, but the one without visibe eyes looks more elien, making it more appropriate
also, the eggmorphing scene in the original movie is the most disturbing scene in it and ridley should've found a way to include it
>>
is there a new alien movie?
>>
>>216053090
I agree. But it doesn't change the fact that AvPR can now be enjoyed when before it literally could not. I tried to watch it a few years ago and couldn't do it. Now I can.
>>
>>216051197

What the fuck are you talking about? The xenomorph is no necromancer and there's nothing going for it that suggests anything about necromancy. Don't introduce your nerdy ass fantasy settings into this sci-fi.

>eggmorphing scene

maybe future movies can include it. They're artificial creatures with a fucked up lineage (thanks Ridley), there should be a variant somewhere that relies on turning victims into eggs. I think part of what makes Alien 1 great is discovering how the Xeno evolves; I want a new movie showing a new cycle so we get that sense of discovery again. That said, I also don't mind Romulus showing us the transition between chestburster and adult, as long as it looks good.
>>
>>216053236
I recently tried to give it another chance for the fifth or sixth time and once again it's too fucking dark. Wish I saw it in a theater
>>
>>216053284
>They're artificial creatures

This has not been proven anywhere in any of the movies.

There is a 20,000 year old carving of a xeno on the wall on LV-223. David invented jack shit.
>>
>>216052535
So the “the canon” is one movie where the alien is never explained and on screen for a total of 5 minutes?
>>
>>216053634
Plus the prequels.
>>
>>216053467
It's true though. According to the prequel films, Xenomorphs didn't exist until David designed them. It's similar to how the Engineers used black goo to grow those gray biomechanical undersuits to replace their natural skin. By default, the black goo creates things like Neomorphs and it uses various kinds of delivery systems dependent on the situation. David used it to create an organism that's always roughly the same biologically and always uses the same delivery system, just for the satisfaction of having some offspring that's guaranteed to spread while retaining its original form designed by him. The Engineers didn't care about such things due to being able to reproduce naturally, and dumping black goo on a planet is a more effective weapon than xenomorphs anyways.
>>
>>216054027
>Xenomorphs didn't exist until David designed them.

One again THERE IS A LITERAL THOUSANDS OF YEARS OLD SCULPTURE OF A XEMOMORPH ON LV-233.

Are you saying David invented time travel? Stop with this nonsense. David did not invent the xenomophs by definition in his own damn movie.
>>
>>216054212
>One again THERE IS A LITERAL THOUSANDS OF YEARS OLD SCULPTURE OF A XEMOMORPH ON LV-233.
That thing depics a Deacon or a Neomorph, or something else. The black goo produces creatures that look overall much like the xenomorph, but different and less resistant, and by using adaptive delivery systems instead of eggs and facehuggers.
>>

I actually encourage the shitposting since it keeps the thread bumped while the actual smart anons can gather. However that's the problem with anonimity and individualism in general, while it discourages sheep mentality is also discourages individuals of high IQ banding together for longer periods of time to exchange ideas and create a potential blueprint for a new Alien franchise.

I am talking about /tv/ /co/ /tg/ /v/ and any creative anon to come with me and exchange ideas in a meaningful manner: the creation of a pitch bible for a new Alien and Predator series.
>>

>>

Im with you, it looked to me like the engineers were trying to reverse engineer a long extinct super species, retards that cling to the “muh bioweapon” theiry is why i disregard all theyre takes in regards to these franchises

Watch Prometheus again. The Engineer ship was literally prepped to go obliterate Earth with its black goo payload and the Engineer almost manages to go complete the mission before being stopped.
>>
>>216058080
That being said though, I have no doubt the Engineers were trying to reverse engineer the black goo and probably worshipped it due to the mural and whatnot.
>>
>>216053725
I refuse to believe anyone really thinks the prequels are better than Aliens. You are fake news.

>SCULPTURE OF A XEMOMORPH ON LV-233
According to the artbook, that's a Deacon
In an earlier draft of the script, it was explicitly stated to be the creature the Engineers found that yielded the first batch of black goo
>>
>>216058265
lmao Prometheus is the least canon shit ever, it wasn’t even originallly an Alien movie. Fake fan, fuck off (and I like Prometheus but both Alien and Prometheus work better as stand alone)
>>
>>216059511
Right? Pretending they are related just ruins them both. There's nothing alien or mysterious about the first movie when the ship just crash ten minutes ago and had been to Earth bunches of times all along. And as presented by the movie, there's nothing interesting about the Engineers, which was the only reason anyone came to watch the movie. They forgot to put anything interesting in, just leaving it as an empty mystery box for the sequel which never filled it. Instead, the first movie is a group of people flying to a boring, barren rock planet, getting themselves into bad situations through sheer incompetence, then suffering deaths one after another from easily preventable occurences. If it hadn't been pretending to be related to Alien (and never fulfilling the idea) it would have been 1000x more interesting
>>
Alright wise guy how would you do a prequel to ALIEN?
>>
>>216059688
Jonesy catches and eats the chestburster
>>
>>216059883
And then he turns into a cat alien, right?
>>
I don't work for free, /tv/. Strip for me.
>>
>>216059688
...there is no prequel. There's humans flying around in space with no aliens. It's boring. They float out there for decades mining rocks with nothing interesting happening. Then stumble upon a weird repeating signal and shit goes down. A prequel ruins everything about it.
>These same aliens have been on Earth for ten thousand years! In fact, they were made by Humanity's creator and an Earth Android!
wow... that totally ruins anything horrifying about it. It's not even 'alien' anymore since they were here all along.
>>
>>216053586
Just like mankind created dogs from wolves David created the modern xenomorph from protomorphs, this is canon.

blame Fox execs selling the movie as "a film in the Alien vein" and the retards who thought this meant "a new Alien film" and that's why we have Covenant

>>
>>216052765
Based. I prefer AvP:R over the first movie. The worst thing about it is that the human characters are so forgettable that they are barely characters and just cannon fodder. And the darkness setting was a little too much. It's not a masterpiece by any measure, but anyone that prefers the kiddie Anderson movie is probably attached to it because it was their introduction the both franchises.
>>
>>216052765
Hilarious bit where they kill the main girl in AVP2. I think the director decided she wasn’t working out so they killed her off for entertainment value
