At least we still have Sneed's.

Seems familiar.

The writers no longer know how to write about anything but their life in LA hanging out with celebrities.
>>
>>216055033
Hmmmmm
>>
>>216055033
Same thing happened to South Park. The creators become a victim of their success and become acclimated into the LA bubble.
>>
>>216055102
>no longer
it's not the same writers lol
>>
Gentrification, many such cases
>>
>>216055125
South Park is still a hick town though. They just added detail to the animation. Springfield changed from being a shitty town in a shitty state to being LA/NY/Seattle at the same time.
>>
the show started in 1990. America was a lot different place then and much more grungy/blue collar in general.

The country sex club Chuck's became some shitty organic market

The economy grew.
You welcome liberals

It was always whatever it needed to be, even in the Golden Age it was home to extremely wealthy people, media types (Krusty was there since day one, not to mention Bumblebee Man, Rainier Wolfcastle and Troy McClure) It's always had an animation studio and a film studio, a nuclear power plant, universities.
Groening initially modeled it after Portland (which is indeed in the hipster stratosphere of LA/NY/Seattle), but ultimately it's an anytown USA with aspects of the Pacific Northwest, Midwest and New England.
Everyone in this thread is wrong.

To be entirely fair Portland used to be a much more blue collar town and it was only relatively recently that it became an ANTIFA/hipster troll hutch.

Grimy blue-collar backgrounds are more interesting.

This was kino. And the fact I didn't know the guy was from another cartoon because that cartoon never aired in my cunt makes it better.

OP, go and read about gentrification. Wait, that's a big ask. Go watch some a YT or TT about gentrification.
>>
>>216055599
But Springfield was supposed to be a small town, not New York.
>>
>>216055645
How many towns in the middle of nowhere get gentrified?

why are you watching it, or paying attention to it at all

Aren't we talking about Springfield?

Groening's from Portland

Depends what they were mocking. They still had things like country clubs
>>
The Simpsons are out of touch, we all known this for nearly two decades. Is it even worth pointing out at this point
>>
I live in Pennsylvania and the 80s never really ended here, most of the people I know would be described as working class. It always seemed apparent to me that the economy you're describing mainly exists in rich gentrified places like Denver, San Fran, and Portland.

The sad part is that they had no reason to even move to LA. The show is made by a team of like the same 10 people who have been working there since the 90s. They could've just stayed in some small town in Colorado and made the show from some small office the entire time.
>>
>>216055475
that is true, Portland in his childhood was very different from today

Guatemalan...

The world of the old Simpsons no longer exists anymore, that sort of middle class America is dead. An actual accurate version of modern Simpsons life would be too depressing and not popular for general audiences
>>
>>216056639
But then you'd have to live in Colorado

>Krusty was there since day one, not to mention Bumblebee Man, Rainier Wolfcastle and Troy McClure
Krusty is indeed Springfield's biggest celebrity, and he's the host of an afternoon children's program (to be fair, Krusty seems like he might be a huge deal owning the universe's equivalent of McDonald's, it's really inconsistent whether he's a billionaire or just some dork on local broadcast TV)
Rainier Wolfcastle explicitly flies in from LA and thinks Springfield is a shithole

In Troy McClure's case, he seemed to have chosen Springfield to build his estate back when he was a successful movie star, probably because it's so isolated so no one would notice his sex aquarium, and now having aged out as a leading man he rots there (Phil Hartman real life tragedy aside, I'd have liked to see a take on how Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise never go the fuck away no matter how old they get)
I want to say "Who gives a fuck about Bumblebee Man" but I know there's a joke to mine there where Bumblebee Man could just be some asshole in line at the Kwik-E-Mart but then he'd do an appearance in Guadalajara and literally get 100,000 screaming fans to pack a stadium

What's the point of having millions of dollars if you're not in a place where you can enjoy it?
>>
>>216057636
Rubbing it in poor people's faces.
>>
>>216055033
The Simpsons ended in 2000, just like there are only 3 Indiana Jones films and 2 Terminator films. Anything after those is fanfic.
>>
>>216057071
i think it was meant to depressing in a 1990 context. do remember that that was back when everyone was like "ah but is no longer the 50s when a line worker could have a house in the suburbs."
>>
>>216055488
how have they not aged?
>>
>>216055102
This applies to all media made now. It is either LA or NY.
>>
>>216055198
>South Park is still a hick town though
It really isn’t. It is just a modern city in Cali. The only hick part is Kenny and his family.
>>
>>216055198
>>216059536
It's just suburban modern Colorado instead of old rural Colorado. Colonized by Californian faggots.
>>
>>216059536
Don't forget the "dey dook our jerbs" guy. Trey always uses him when he wants to shit on the poor proles who are rightfully concerned about mass immigration

There is NO WAY that this is real

Its a town with a lake, a coast a desert a mountain and easy access to capitol city so prime gentrification property

He modeled it after Eugene and SPRINGFIELD, which are like an hour from Portland
