Because they know those actors and they know they'll be competent and easy to work with. A huge part of being a director is wrangling faggot actors and dealing with their faggot actor entitlement bullshit. If I know Actor A. Actorson is gonna do what I tell him to do in the way I tell him to do it, I'm gonna hire him over whatever retarded niggerfaggot the studio suggested.

Mike Judge gets a pass.
He always uses that guy who voiced Bill on KOTH (and was Jimmy James on News Radio)

Sounds good. Just stop reusing actors. Changing technical collaborators never ends well.

it depends, some do it right, but sometimes you get sick of watching the same actors over and over again, it's cool when directors work with different actors too

If I were director I'd assemble actors and crew that I like and use them for every movie.
In no time they would be very efficient team and we could put out 10 movies year.
Actors would have couple fake personas, so audience doesn't get bored. Only problem is that they have to do very fast makeup and change of clothes at oscar awards

>be Wally Pfister
>start working as a cinematographer for Christopher Nolan at the beginning of his career
>become his trusted DP for 7 films
>his work is critically acclaimed, gets 4 Academy Awards nominations, winning one Oscar
>at some point he wants to debut as a director
>Nolan needs someone for his next film, so he hires a dutch guy with a weird name, Hoyte van Hoytema
>Pfister's film Transcendence bombs at the box office and is critically panned
>Van Hoytema becomes the new Nolan's go-to cinematographer
>Pfister never directs a feature film again, but he also stops working as a DP
>his only credited works in the last decade are a few TV episodes and commercials

These guys end up learning that their most valuable quality is that they are familiar, known and predictable to the director. For each next project, the director defaults to them because he knows what to expect from them and doesn't need to spend time, effort and sanity to search for a new guy for this role. If they skip a director's project, the director spends some effort to find a new one and then this new guy simply becomes the default one for the simple reason of having recently worked with this director.

Don't forget about Nolan's editor and Hans Zimmer.
