I showed a classroom of Gen A the movie "Weekend at Bernies" and they didn't laugh a single time. What's the problem? All previous generaitons loved this movie.
>>216058204It’s over.
I tried watching it once and turned it off after 10 minutes, my Jewdar was off the charts
>>216058204This is like when millennial kids were forced to read Catcher in the Rye and the teacher was surprised that the kids didn't find it subversive and edgy enough
>>216058204Kids never appreciate a movie that they see in class, because it's in class and it is shown by an old teacher, it doesn't matter if the movie is good or funny, they don't appreciate it because of the context
>>216058204It’s a terrible movie
>>216058515Thats not even remotely true. We all rioted for Bill Nye BILL BILL BILL BILL
>>216058204Humor changes. Now people laugh at things like the Chris Watts case.
>>216058204They're living Weekend at Bernies. Except Bernie is the decaying culture of their grandparents.
Gen Alpha perception of the world is the culmination of the worst aspects of Millennial and Gen Z humor, as fed through AI and social maladjustment caused by COVID lockdowns. Soon most programming will require a splitscreen with brainrot clips to have any hope of keeping Gen A eyes on the actual content for more than 5 seconds.Things are unironically grim.
>>216058737Those were never movies. Maybe like 20-30 segments. You put them to sleep unc, and Weekend at Bernie’s is just tasteless trash anyway
>>216058204They suppressed their laughter because they hate you
>>216058737Nobody enjoyed watching bill nye, they just liked watching something instead of having class. I’m sure the kids liked watching a weekend at Bernie’s too, they just didn’t enjoy it. If you unironically enjoyed bill nye as a kid you were a loser.
>>216058204>kids from a generation marred by financial chaos, cultural degredation and social decline aren't impressed by a film from an era of financial prosperity and excessNot even remotely surprising. They can't relate to the culture they're witnessing because all they've known is decay and rot. That aside, what's the academic merit of Weekend at Bernie's? Why would you show them this movie?
>>216058515I first saw "hackers" in a computer class in high school in the 00s and I fucking love it.
>>216058318Kids with no life experience can't appreciate things that. The fact that school pushes it makes it inherently uncool, besides.
>>216058204GenX here. I watched it the first time it came on HBO after it was out in the theaters. I was not into it.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbayM9yGyl8https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NsmN0DWyNo
