The acting is fucking embarrassing, they all look like they just want this to be over. Will just says his lines like he's reading them for the first time, Mike seems like he forgot how to act. Dustin's delivery of "I want to see Vecna's heart on a platter" was Wiseau-tier

I think the reason the Holly story actually works (for people other than pedos) is there's actually some real mystery and sense of powerlessness there like the other characters and storylines have in the early seasons. Everyone else is just treading water.
