Who do zoomers all talk about cartoon characters like they're real people? I overheard my sister talking with her friend today and I thought it was about someone they knew until I realized it was Pim from Smiling Friends
>>
They're completely unable to discern fiction from reality. That's why they also foam at the mouth and call people pedophiles over rule 34 of characters that are "canonically minors", as if porn artwork follows the fucking canon, this is hilarious puritanism from people who are mostly extremely progressive by their own account. They're deranged and insane.

Go draw some hyper cock transformation fetish art while moralfagging about someone jerking off to an anime girl that is "canonically 14 you fukkking pedo scum!!!!". You're simultaneously violently degenerate freaks while being moralfaggots, your whole existence is a contradiction and this is why conservatism is winning.

As a zoomer I've noticed that the majority of my peers never moved on from the cartoons they watched as children. Rather than going on to watch new things, exploring the wealth of great movies from the last century, they just watch spongebob again.
>>
Ive casually browsed all the cartoon subreddits for yearrrrsss. I think last year I finally removed every single one from my shit. Zoomers have ruined it all. You can't just laugh at an old family guy gag. Everything has to be some bullshit youtube essay type analysis about whatever stupid morality bullshit who cares
>>
>>216301925
Zoomers are a generation obsessed with morality but with a totally godless upbringing so their morality is derived from whatever fleeting emotion they happen to be feeling at the time. Cartoons are the closest thing zoomers have to some moral foundation. Among zoomers there is a total moral subjectivity, yet paradoxically they all believe anyone who goes against their view of what is moral should be punished with extreme severity.
>>
>>216301805
You're the weirdo to them though. Most zoomers aren't interested in movies. It's a boomer interest.

>>216298817
This is mostly an online phenomena.
As the internet has fostered 'fandoms' people have been allowed from childhood to hyperfixate on childish media well into adulthood. So while they are maturing to the point where standard kids cartoon tropes no longer appeal to them, they still obsess over these 'IPs' and start acting as if it were real life or a realistic tv show.

That's why it is important to move on from what you liked as a kid and, when you partake in fiction, mostly enjoy stuff made for your age group

I'm a zoomer and I even catch myself doing this shit accidentally sometimes unfortunately. People thought millenials were moralistic (arguably they invented cancel culture) but I've come to realise the moralfagging of zoomers is far far worse. The change in discourse around cheating is a good example - don't get me wrong, cheating is something absolutely horrific and can destroy lives, but with previous generations I always sensed this general understanding that infidelity is something that happens, it's a regrettable but recurring feature of human behaviour, and ultimately is not the be all / end all of someone's moral worth. But listening to people my age you'd easily confuse them for medieval clerics the way they refer to cheaters, and again I find myself falling into that kind of extreme moral policing a lot too. I'd love to study what caused this phenomenon. It's also interesting that gen Z is simultaneously the most sexually degenerate on paper (in terms of sheer exposure to porn) and yet also has the least sex and is the most puritanical about sex (even on the left!).
>>
oh yeah, you are smarter for posting social media screenshots, projecting some pseudo-analysis out of your ass without even the slightest hint of truth. fucking attention starved faggot

>>
>>216303728
What I mean is that if a close friend of mine cheated on his partner I wouldn't cut him off, especially if he showed remorse. This sounds normal to you because you're probably not insane, but I know many people my age who would say you should cut even close friends off for cheating.

Zoomers and their Gen X parents were both victims of being the lower birth rate generation after a baby boom
Millennials and Boomers grew up in a world where the state and capitalism saw appealing to families as a great business model. From Family-geared TV shows to Restaurants to movies.
The cartoons that are remembered from the Boomer and Millennial era the border for the most part is Bart Simpson and Bugs Bunny, a few dirty puns for the parents.
The Zoomer and Gen X era, the remembered cartoons are things like Fritz the Cat and Heavy Metal and South Park and the Family Guy. Mostly vulgar stuff for young adults to enjoy. Even Howard the Duck by George Lucas, a man who exclusively had made kids movies for a solid decade before is more interested in showing off alternate universe Duck Tits than appealing to a 10 year old kid.
But for a Millennial or Boomer, the whole world heard the Beatles on Ed Sullivan, everyone remembers where they were on 9/11, pretty much every man in the English speaking world can recite a good chunk of about 5 seasons of the Simpsons and/or Monty Python's Flying Circus.
Just a doomed generation born from a generation that was likewise doomed.

That guy who started making videos about how it's wrong for shows to be "mean spirited" did a number on people's brains, I swear.
Sometimes a comedy is just a comedy. Sometimes it's funny because a piano fell on someone. These aren't life lessons.
>>
>>216304116
They're a generation of Born Agains who resent their childhood because the media was all designed for people who were a few years older than them
>>
>>216303766
It's not about moralfagging, it's about gen Z's moralfagging being based on completely arbitrary bullshit. Every zoomer wants to enforce their own personal version of sharia law. They're slaves to their own emotions and experiences, going through life without giving a single thought as to why they believe what they believe, then act like everyone who differs slightly from their own extremely specific set of morals given to them by random experience is ontologically evil and shouldn't be allowed to live.
>>
>>216304639
is it any surprise when "objective truths" have been targeted as an aspect of "the patriarchy"
This is exactly what the hags have been telling us they're teaching the kids, for ten or more years.
It's not "truth" anymore. It's "my truth" and "my right to be heard".
>>
>>216298939
You got them screaming over this one. They really, *really* want to be heroes by using cartoons as proxies for children they'll never have or protect. No wonder they're obsessed with "protecting" them.

It’s not just zoomers. Millennials are still obsessed with with Pokemon, Harry Potter, Disney Princesses and Marvel. Gen Xers are still obsessed with Star Wars and Star Trek. When people don’t hit developmental milestones, they stay children forever.
>>
>>216305162
tbf, it was also a universal experience for millennials to watch violent action movies as kids, which apparently just stopped happening at some point?
I definitely saw my first James Bond movie when I was like six. And I used to look at tits in Duke Nukem 3D, not that I even understood what the mess of pixels was supposed to be,

We grew up being told how smart and talented we were as part of the self-esteem movement. And 90% of us ended up in dead-end service jobs. Or jobs we were massively overqualified for to make ends meet. Of course we relate to Squidward.
>>
>>216305204
Even regular kids movies designed for kids had a good amount of "Fantasy Violence", Basically everything from Indiana Jones to Pirates of the Caribbean was essentially "Yeah we beat the guy up, but we established he was a jerk beforehand and did it with a silly weapon"
>>
>>216305251
Squidward literally did nothing wrong. It's funny to watch him suffer, because he's a normal guy, who has to share his life with Spongebob a Patrick, and Spongebob and Patrick are retarded manchildren.
>>
>>216305251
Part of it is also that Squidward is genuinely untalented, yet he believes he's destined for greatness, despite being a cashier. A lot of people can relate to that.

Because they have autism so they can't really cope with fictional characters as being something you imagine and interpret. They have to treat them as real people with objective characteristics. This is also why they're obsessed with canon.
It's not because they watch too much tv. If anything they watch less than older generations did.
>>
>>216308146
It's not just analysis
They have vehement arguments over canon, as if it's all real. They can't use their imagination at all.
>>
>>216298817
Because in the Jungian sense cartoon characters are more real than real people. They exist as archtypes by which people model their behavior and the behavior of others.

Human beings have what is called the Dunbar Number, I.E., the number of people whom they can model as full and detailed personalities. The number is not very high, and in a modern urbanized society you WILL run out of dunbar slots very quickly if you attempt to model each person discretely instead of only those close to you. Archtypes allow you to model a sort of arch-person, a personality type that you can then use to address an entire class of personality as though they were iterations of that archtype, it's why people have their idea of "The Jew," or "The Negro" or "The Middle Manager," or "The Karen," or indeed, "The Squidward."

Characters in fiction historically provide these archtypes, mythological heroes, gods, saints, all take up one Dunbar Slot each, but they apply to multitudes of people, and because people are all aware of them, they subconsciously model themselves and their own behavior after these archtypes. Squidward is a VERY strong archtype, you know Squidwards, I know Squidwards, and understanding Squidward means understanding all of the Squidwards to more or lesser degrees.
>>
>>216308520
True. But zoomers take it a step further. They would argue about the exact details of Squidward's early life, and look for a right or wrong answer.
>>
>>216298817
It's not just zoomies. Most people in general do this. That's the power of the talmudvision. It rewrites reality for those not prepared to defend against it.
>>
>>216298939
>They're completely unable to discern fiction from reality.
This. Earlier generations have grown up with varying exposure to screens and parasocial relationships, but zoomers grew up dependent on them. The ability to discriminate between what happens on a screen and in real life just doesn't exist.
>>
>>216308625
That's not so unusual, prior generations did this with Sherlock Holmes, for example. The difference is that we have the internet now so you can actually see it happening. You're mistaking a technological culture event for a generational idiosycracy.
>>
>>216309488
Did people write Sherlock Holmes fanfiction in the 1890s?
