Early Millennial here. The movie came off as Zoomers, not Millennials.
No way in hell would a Millennial teen boy be caught dead dancing to the Thong Song back then. He would be called a massive faggot by literally everyone and mocked relentlessly as a cocksucker.
Also that's another part that was missing, Teen/Young Adult vocab back then was like 80% gay jokes and calling people fags.

obviously the best picture oscar is often wrong but it's not like 2024 was some stunning year for movies.
