It was a fun and original idea at the time, and they someone were able to do it again in a complete rehash sequel that was succefull, but theres just not that much juice in that IP. It was this huge smash hit in the early 90s, but the greedy studios just couldnt accept that thats all it was and made like 5 shitty straight to DVD sequels that no one even knows exist.
