It is easy to forget now but the Muppets were GIANT back then.Why didnt that end up happening? Don Bluth and team left Disney to form their own studio, produced films like The Secret of Nimh and Land Before Time which lit a spark under the Disney Exec's asses, and they started greenlighting more ambitious and dark films like The Little Mermaid etc. which kicked off the Disney Renaissance. So conveniently, right as they are set to sell to Jim Henson Co, they get a giant tailwind. And Jim Henson suddenly dies days before the merger and it all falls apart. Don't feel too bad though, Henson was just as much a masonic Jew as any Disney exec could ever be. He wasnt the good guy in this. Just pointing out that Disney almost died then.
