Well... The Dahomey tribe were ruthless slavers. And what makes the movie amusing is that they are openly screeching about their "right to freedom" whilst raiding their neghboring states to capture slaves to sell to Europeans for the plantations in Jamaica and even the Americas. Now at the height of their Kingdom, the Dahomey were supplying 20% of the world's slaves... so the English kept turning up to tell them to stop. In the end, the French showed up at the Second Franco-Dahomean War and wiped the Dahomey out in just a couple of hours. The majority of the Dahomey Amazons were obliterated after the French engaged them with a bayonet charge. Even though the French were outnumbered 5 to 1, they only lost 85 men and killed over 4,000 Dahomey (Africans), including almost every one of the 1,200 Amazons, all in close quarters combat. You won't see that in the movie.Then there's Disney's decision to fund this film combined with Boyega's decision to star in it as the King. How fitting that black activist actor John Boyega is playing the 'King of the Slavers'. This is an actor who protests his own employers for the wrongs of the 1700s... wrongs that were perpetuated by the very tribe he is promoting in this utterly worthless propaganda film that glorifies Slavers & Slavery like no other.So why call it The Woman King? It's that a Queen? Why yes it is. But we're in Woke World now, so anything that crowns a black woman & declares she's a "queen" is considered politically correct these days. The film glorifies these "Strong Women" (Amazons) but in reality they had to form female armies because their men were almost wiped out with all the constant inter-tribal skirmishes. and raids.This film, from start to finish, is a work of complete Fiction. Worse than that, it glosses over the terrible actions of Africans in their brutal subjugation of their own people for greed, inevitably selling hundreds of thousands of helpless people into the hands of slavers.
