Agree with every point you've made here. Season 1 was dogshit and it's a crying shame since CSM is so well suited to an anime adaption and their was so much public good will behind making it good. It's bizarre how badly they fucked it.

Just finished watching the film there. Fair play to Mappa they went all in on the animation and it looked great, Reze was done justice. It will be interesting to see if they can carry the momentum from the film and channel it into a second season that isn't hot garbage, going back to a TV budget.

The movie was decent. A couple of shots were overly choppy to be "cinematic", but overall it was a visual feast. Most of the music was good, I would've cut the generic metal track though.
