Star Wars 1977 is the best sci-fi adventure movie of all time on its own. You have to have seen all the other movies to get what's even going on in RotS

When Lucas wrote Vader in the 70s, I don't believe he was writing a child murderer, he wasn't writing a movie where the villain is a man who walks in to a room of children just to kill them all. That's just stuff he made up later which I'm sure he thought was some brilliant statement on school shooters in the USA with george buch as president. As it was written in the 70s, Anakin was almost assuredly written as a US soldier who fell to the dark side by following Nixon's orders and torching a space vietnamese village.
