And Jessie made the same child an orphan. Walt is definitely not a good guy, but when comparing him to Gus, every Salamanca, Jessie, Mike and plenty others, he is comparably much better. Then there are also characters like Skylar where the only reason they haven't done more harm to others is just a lack of ability on their part, not because they are more moral or righteous.

And to top it off, when you look at the overall results of Walt's actions, he removed far more evil from the world than he added so he's overall a net positive.
