So this robot could basically run the entire starship himself, from everything I've seen so far.Why did the enterprise have organic life forms in it at all? I assume between robot and the enterprise computers, they were more than enough to do everything.
>SoYou tell me... faggot.
>>216490819The Enterprise was often used in diplomatic missions and the Federation/Starfleet probably wouldn't want an android to be their sole representative. Plus Data can't be everywhere at once. If someone needs to shovel more dilithium briquettes into the warp core and also needs someone to wipe down the viewscreen at the same time then there would be major problems.
>>216490819Why would audiences want to watch a TV show about perfect robots who never encounter obstacles?
>>216490819Fuck toasters. I just found out Windows Copilot wont let you generate nudes of your ex form her socials. What was the fucking point of the AGI revolution?
>>216490972NTA, but I will also add that there were several occasions where Data being and android was explicitly stated to be a major weakness, and he needed Jordie and the other humans to bail him out.
>>216490972>Federation/Starfleet probably wouldn't want an android to be their sole representativeWhy? he can do it
>>216490819Starfleet exists because the people of Earth want to go on the scientific mission and go boldly where no man has gone before. Manning a star ship is work, but it's work they take pride in. Just having Data do it would be at odds with what Starfleet is about. Plus, if Data goes down then you're instantly handing the flagship of the Federation to whoever disabled him. He's also the only one of his kind which means that there are people who would want to tear him apart to analyse him.
>>216490819>>216491088Did you watch the fucking show? There was a subplot (plothole filling) of how there used to be androids etc. but they revolted and warred with humans, hence androids and AI are banned in the Federation. I recall they explained also why Data is the only android in the fleet...
>>216490819there's only two androids as good as Data and one of them is evil
>>216491395You're conflating Star Trek with Dune.
What ever happened to all those androids on the android planet that Harry Mudd got stuck on
>>216490819in case enterprise encountered a race of aliens that communicated solely through jokes and laughter
>>216491395no there wasn't
>>216491487Forget about that, we need more Andrea models
>>216491395You seem to be mixing up Picard with TNG. And those androids were modeled after Data. In any case, that happened decades after the events of TNG concluded
>>216491395that was genetic enhancing
Why don't they just use the transporter to make like 5 billion duplicates of Data and just give them different faces that look more life-like.Who's going to know they're not real people? (for diplomatic missions)You can even make them look like Klingons or Vulcans or whatever toad-headed ally aliens you want
>>216490819>robotHe is not a robot, but an android. And it is pronounced "Data" not "data"
>>216490819Anon, let me let you in on something. There are no more humans in Star Trek.Just synthesized meat people that are constantly torn apart and rebuilt and altered subtly by a machine god that rules the entire meat puppet empire. Data is more then likely an attempt by the machines to further understand it's antfarm.
>>216492672Transporters don't kill people.
>>216492684Oh yes they do. That's fucking deathThey carry around weapons that do to other thigns what the transporter does to them. They are all fucking dead.
>>216492883Imagine a captain just taking down an enemy's shields, downloading everyone, and then just deleting them instead of rematerializing themI wanna see that episode
>>216490819Wasn't Data some extremely rare android who was so advanced that he couldn't be replicated by anyone in the universe? ... or something?
>>216493006have they never done this in trek? i know there were instances where people were stuck in transport buffers. seems like a real janeway idea
>>216493046They never got the chance because of the military dictatorship that is The Federation deemed him sentient
>>216493046Yes
I get why the Federation might not want to use the transporter to duplicate people or use it as a weapon but there's nothing preventing Cardassians or Romulans from doing that. They don't seem like they'd care about the ethics of it.
>>216493006They already have them savedLook at the holodeckThey only thing they are transferring are memories. Just scan their memories, and make meat puppets to implant them into.
So if there's no money in the federation how do they deal with real estate? There is limited valuable real estate so who gets to decide who gets it?What if more people want a limited asset of any kind? What if someone wants a valuable historical item for his collection and another person wants the same item? How do you deal with labor? What if there's a job nobody wants to do? What if everyone on a federation ship decides they don't want to do their job. None of them are paid? Why do a difficult task when nobody is paying you to do it?
>>216493624In glorious space commie utopia, you are allowed everything you need. Don't worry about it.
>>216493548ComputerTransport a photon torpedo to the romulan capital and any ships in range with shields down
