Why was Tuvok only a Lieutenant Commander after like 80 years in Starfleet? Was he stupid or something?
>>
Smartest guy isn't always the best leader. And maybe he didn't care about improving the skills needed for command.
>>
Might have something to do with his skin color

We don't talk about stuff like that in the future, OP.

Janeway is the worst because shes a double standard hypocrite.
Prime directive states we dont give technology to non elevated society - a season later and their giving away Starfleet technology for fucking apples, then a season afterwards just handing hollowdeck specs to those knock off predator murderers. The previous season they made a big deal on why you dont do this.

She states her main objective is getting her crew home. Heres 60+ episodes of her directly putting everyone in danger because she claims it would be boring if they didnt risk their lives doing retarded shit like exploring a rape goo planet that steals their bodies or let's get involved with a race of aliens that hunt each other for sport.

She then refuses to do a deal with Q that would bring everyone home in an instant. Not just once but 3 times. This later leads to several people dying that wouldn't have if she had just said no. She put her pride before everyone else
>>
>>216491967
Trek requires a huge suspension of disbelief when it comes to characters being rational and intelligent. I accept that and the shows are enjoyable, but I just find her voice and mannerisms really irritating. Janeway is like an overdone "I am an ACK-TOR!" with an Alvin and the Chipmunks type of voice.
>>
>>216491967
Give her a break. She got turned into a salamander and impregnated and had to abandon her freak babies to die on some remote planet.
>>

Lacking emotions proved to be a handicap for Vulcans commanding a mixed race crew. This was covered in the Gallieo 7 episode of TOS.

Some of the voyager episodes just feel like the writers trolling the viewers.
Tuvok getting space aids in the last 3 episodes, the doctor having a shit family and just putting up with it.

Yet these episodes will be seen as gold compared to this LGBTQ fleet academy shit there now pushing out.
It seems the rumours of Robert being bullied down and his ideas ignored were true

Exactly. If you rank them up too early, they'll spend 80 years as an Admiral. You don't want old people in positions of power for that long.

Prime directive mostly applies to pre-warp civilizations. Otherwise, every trade, interaction, rendering of aid, etc, would count as a violation. Couldn't even fight back against any attackers, because that would count as interfering with their development or enforcing starfleet's personal belief that being blown up and dead is bad.

That episode was such bullshit, because it amounted to Belana adding a trauma story to his little holodeck game and they passed it off as
>WELL IN REALITY SOMETIMES YOUR KID JUST DIES OF A MINOR INJURY
>YOU GOTTA LEARN TO DEAL WITH THAT LIKE THE REST OF US WHO DIDN'T HAVE MINOR PROBLEMS TURN INTO PERMANENT LIFE-ALTERING PSYCHOLOGICAL SCARS

I would lock that bitch in the holodeck and run the most traumatic, laser targetted evil shit to mentally destroy that bitch for life after that.

That's actually scary, all the time.

They weren't a real family anyway. He wasn't even treating it like a real family. It was more like how people now treat AI chatbots. His was the only hologram program, other than Moriarty (and i guess andy dick v2), that was advanced enough to be considered life.

Tuvok knows what he’s good at. He’s not someone they’d have managing a Starship’s personnel. He’d be able to do it; but he’s not human. It’s just a TV show, and Janeway gets the plot moving.

They live in a time where nearly everything just shy of total brain death can be cured and treated. Belana created a bullshit situation just to abuse the EMH because she didn't like that his pretend family wasn't realistic enough. So, instead of slightly adjusting the parameters, she made them completely dysfunctional and killed his digital child, which he obviously cared about, just to make the EMH learn a vague lesson that wasn't really clear and really just amounted to a spiteful bitch shitting on a hologram because she didn't think he deserved to be happy about anything.

>>

>because she didn't think he deserved to be happy about anything
She's right though that he was living in a fantasy. It's escapism, not a realistic scenario. You shouldn't respect people living a lie.
Although I guess you could make the argument that his method of procreation could make a perfect family, since it would just be programmed to be such. But even then computers live in the real world. It would've made more sense for the story to have some radiation wave corrupt the program or something, that way it isn't a malicious co-worker but a true fact of life. Shit happens.
>So, instead of slightly adjusting the parameters, she made them completely dysfunctional and killed his digital child
I don't think she programmed the kid to die, just made it a possibility. Which it is. She did alter the parameters too far though, agreed. His son turned into a cunt too.

Worst character is Chakotay, but it's not even his fault. He got saddled with the Maquis subplot, the Seska villain plot, and the writers got conned by a jew who pretended to be Native American and a cultural expert who just made up a bunch of stupid new age bullshit for Chakotay to repeat that made the character one of the most racist depicts of a native in TV history.

Wasn't his reasoning that he was experimenting with having a family life? To explore his humanity (or simulation of it)? The point was to simulate a real family.

Happy families exist. Belana was just seething because she's a mutt who came from a broken home. Typical femoid behavior.

False. He was acting like it was so easy to parent when all he did was create a perfect family in a perfect world while keeping out the realism of human nature and unfortunate events. While he world is what we all want, hers is sadly what we get.
>>216499209
They don't brag and compare, child.
>>
>>216499479
>I agree it was altered too far
Not at all. All she did was make them act like a stereotypical family at that age. The only real issue was him having to experience the death of his child, and that wasn't her direct fault.
>>
>>216499568
>All she did was make them act like a stereotypical family at that age.
I dunno about that. His boy was acting like a little shit 100% of the time. I have kids, I was a kid, I know kids. His kid was atypically fucked up.
I only knew one kid growing up that was that much of a cunt and he was literally mentally ill. And he was still decent to his family some of the time.
Nah it was taken to an extreme.

>gets his body merged with Neelix's in a freak transporter accident

Go rewatch the episode. Belana got upset that his family was saccharine after the EMH claimed that having a family was easier to handle than his research had led him to believe. He agrees to let her make the program more realistic, which instantly turns into unconditional strife and drama, including his son suddenly becoming a retarded Klingaboo (really subtle Torres), culminating in his daughter getting lethal brain trauma off screen because it's realistic for little girls to play violentbraintraumaball after school without any safety gear in the distant future.
>>
>>216491171
Is the same reason why Elves that live for hundreds of years are getting shown up in various disciplines by random humans who only 30 or so. Long lived fantasy races don't really make sense on any level. It's beyond human imagination.

I also didn't know kids like that, more so because I wasn't around them that often, but she might have given him a sperg. Remember that the writers are still in the modern age, so the angsty teens are going to be generic shits on t.v.

The kind of kids who act like that have absentee fathers and negligent mothers, who are also both retard fuckups, which is where the kids get it from. Kinda like how all Juggalos are typically from low class, and poor neighborhoods. The son of a doctor doesn't try to join the circus getting a job smashing his dick with a hammer. The Klingon shit his son was suddenly into came off more like Belana's own personal drama about being a half-breed cunt who grew up angry and retarded until she discovered engineering.
>>

A Lt. Commander is equivalent to an Army Major. So it's not a low rank. They can captain a small vessel and typically the XO or dept heads on larger ships.
>>

He's shitposting. Kim had no chance because he was decades away from his empire.
>>
>>216502233
Nog was near the top of his class, nearly good enough that a little nudge from Sisko could get him into Red Squad. His field experience allowed him to prove over and over again that he was an exceptionally capable individual. Kim, on the other hand, didn't die on the job. That's it. He wasn't an expert at anything. He wasn't especially good. He was in a bad situation and survived, but that's all he did.
