>>216491184titanic should've been a rashomon like story being told from the perspective of three different points of view:first part is told by rose, which is basically the regular story but a lil more brief. she's into art, doesn't want to marry cal, and falls in love with jack the bum. they surprised having romantic sex and so on and so on.second part is told from cal's perspective. he's a respectable industrial tycoon/philantropist who genuinely believes in progress and wants to help the poors. meanwhile he learns about a conspiracy to sabotage the ship. the same anarchists who have been subverting his work force with agitprop and such. rose is still rose but mentally unwell. she just got released from a mental asylum and his busy drawing shitty art while drooling and babbling to herself. He just wants her to get better, getting her treatment in america, but anarchist jack uses her to weasle his way in while pretending to be an artist.third part is from jacks perspective. jack is just jack, dreaming about a better life in the US. he wins his ticket and is being miserable under deck, but also kind of optimistic. he doodles something and catches the eye of rose, one of the privileged assholes and her rich husband. she ends up stalking him, vows her undying to jack who she barely knows, while he's just trying to avoid her unsuccessfully. she eventually tells her to get lost and she has mental breakdown and rapes him while pointing a revolver at his face. they're caught by jack's friend who's shot dead right before the ice berg hits. the end of the movie picks up on the aftermath, slowly zooming in on a sinister looking rose doing the jack nicholson stare from the shining, as she's being rowed to another ship. one of the sailors reaches over and smiles at her while offering his hand. she smiles back.
