this was the greatest thing ever in 2009
>>
I had several of those. The only reason I stopped using them was because they did not support newer codecs like x265 and AV1.

I loved mine but not having wifi built in sucked. I bought an apple TV 3rd gen but quickly sold it as they were pretty much useless with how many restrictions apple placed on the OS.

i think i got some chinese android box after that then just got a sony smart TV

this is the problem i've been having with my 14 year old blu ray player. It used to be able to play everything

Interesting, was this like a hard drive with its own remote/UI?

In 2009 I was just pirating movies onto a hard drive, and then plugging that into my Xbox 360.

they were pretty much mac mini's with the processor throttled. people jailbroke the first gen apple TV's to use as desktop computers with mac OS. apple made sure to make it impossible on the later models.
>>
nah
windows emulators of 8/16-bit consoles were the GOAT at that period
dvd and dvd players were still largely universal and most likely still had VHS players and videos of whatever they liked so they weren't scarce by any measure

>no Dolby TrueHD/DTS-HD support
trash that only normies buy
>>
>>216493307
Not really worth the money if you don't care about L1 widevine.
>>
>>216493241

it had no built in storage but you could plug USB storage devices into the ports it also had a network port and wifi on later models so you could just put all your kino in a shared folder on your network and watch it.
>>
these save the embarrassment of plugging your laptop into the TV

been doing that for ages on the nvidia shield, with a dedicated 90tb storage array. don't even need a box on newer tvs anymore. at least my sony oled can, but the shield is still faster with developer mode enabled.

>av1 support
I'm not streaming shit if I pirate blurays and 2160p x265 rips. pointless feature.
>youtube HDR
nothing worthwhile is in HDR on youtube, just HDR demo videos.
>HDMI 2.1
>muh framerates
I'm a gayming fag. next gen HDR isn't even supported anywhere for it to matter
>>
>>216495756
You cannot achieve p7 FEL with the nvidia shield. You need an ugoos am6+ running coreelec kodi you fucking pleb. Plex. Cringe.
