Good morrow to all my friends and compadres and fellow 4chan forum posters!I never got a chance to watch it, and I know it only made it 3 seasons, but I was going to give it a shot and watch this fucking Wheel of Time Amazon Prime series. I saw the trailers for it but it does seem very confusing? Please, help me out?So Moiraine is the main character, kind of like Gandalf and she is fighting the big bad, the dark one. So she needs to find the Dragon, who might be a boy or girl, but she has it narrowed down to like the 5 young adults from a rural village. And guys aren't allowed to use magic because they fucked up the world previously and destroyed it, so if the Dragon is a guy then it might mess up her plans? And then I guess there is the Forsaken which they are kind of like the 13 ghosts of Scooby Doo, they escaped from their sealed prison and the good guys have to hunt them all and capture and put them back into the magical prison. And in the meantime the Aes Sedai is out there trying to fix the world but they have a lot of corruption and they are losing because the Dark One is growing stronger.

>>216500740Bro if this picture doesn't turn you off from watching it then nothing else anyone here says will. This is what you are signing up for. Men are Wrong: The Series
I'm just going to start posting some of the biggest female Book fans reactions to this show.
>>216500740Do yourself a favor, read the books instead.
Very YA it sounds. Thank heavens I have a penis and can disregard this nonsense.
>>216502335the books are also shit, for different reasons. 14 books could and should have been done in 5 tops.find something less riddled with bloat.
>>216503263Eh, few thing are perfect. I like them, doesnt mean you have to. I do agree that the later books could do with better editing. Funny enough, when his wife started editing is when the bloat got bad. That being said, the only book that spins its wheels is book 10. It should have been cut entirely and the couple of important chapters folded into 9 or 11
>>216503339Interesting take. I felt like literally every single book spins it's wheels.I'm all for descriptive writing, but how many damn times can Nynaeve sniff before it doesn't need to be pointed out?
>>216503476I can certainly see why you think that and how that wouldnt appeal to everyone. For me, the positive aspect of all that description is the "world" of wheel of time ends up being so well fleshed out that it almost becomes a character itself. This is why a lot people had major issues with the show story wise. The world and its rules are very established and factor into various parts of the story Therefore, some of the changes in the show really fucked up the story or at least would later on. Secondly, I think one of things that makes it hard for people to get past the slower parts is the high parts are so fucking good, you literally get whiplash once they are over. Im not trying to argue with you, if you dont like them you dont. They work for me, flawed as they are. But what I do I know, I also love The Dresden Files.
>>216503675That's fair. I'll fully admit that the 'high' parts in the books are fucking incredible. I just feel they could have gotten there in upwards of 1M fewer words over the franchise.I think this is the main reason this series has never made it into the public eye, even with a horrendously forced show. It's just not tidy enough to keep people around, hence why it died.
I will die on the hill that this series has (or had) the potential to be bigger and better than Game of Thrones. For one thing it's finished. But it mainly just has a fully fleshed out world with a more likable cast of characters. The Forsaken are also hilarious and when they show up it's amazing to see the conflict form both sides.
>>216502290Very diverse and vibrant!
>>216502354Why she is not keeping wine in the fridge?
>>216502335Listen to the audiobooks. They're great and it makes it far easier to get through the series.
>>216500740Here's the scenario (from the books)There is an evil entity known as The Dark One that is kept sealed. The seal fades over time so it has to be renewed. Male and female channelers each draw upon different halves of the power, the source of magic in the world. The Dragon was the most powerful channeler in the world and was basically the emperor, seemingly out of arrogance, instead of working with the female channelers (Aes Sedai) he attempted to both reseal the dark one and draw upon that dark one's power (a much more powerful version called the true power). This failed badly, almost unleashing the Dark One and corrupting the male half of the power, dooming users to go insane.Fast forward, the Aes Sedai basically rule the world, controlling most of the world's governments as they're the only ones that can use magic (they hunt down male channelers). They're seen as sinister and controlling. The Dragon has been prophesised to re-incarnate and save the world (but also possibly destroying it) and to reseal the Dark One (who is close to breaking the seal). He will be the most powerful channeler in existence but he will also go insane. The series starts with them identifying him as one of the Ta'veren from an isolated village. Ta'veren are people who literally rewrite fate around themselves, everywhere they go, important things happen and everyone's lives suddenly get upheaved, having three strong Ta'veren appear at once is pretty unheard of so it's a sign that shit is about to go down. It's supposed to be a mystery initially which of the 3 is the Dragon reborn but it's plainly obviousDon't watch the TV series, it's shit and ruins most of the themes from the series.
