>Hey uh, if you're interested we might have a potential Donkey Kong kill screen coming up.
This is how I usually feel when I play Donkey Kong
The irony is everyone gives Billy Mitchell shit for using MAME but the guy is clearly a God tier player Try getting 1 million points on Donkey Kong or getting a perfect game on Pac Mac. Hell even Brian Kuh's high score of 500k is ridiculously good
>>216501657>the guy is clearly a God tier player Try getting 1 million points on Donkey Konghe didn't get a million points on donkey kong, he cheated. that's the whole point.
>>216501996He did though, it was just invalid because it was an emulator. You can see him getting 1 million on an arcade machine herehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQkrjB4FW14
>>216501657You're right. Billy won. That's what he does. He's a winner. When he dies he'll walk into whatever afterlife he get, heaven or hell, and be running the show and selling hot sauce within a month. Just you wait.
>>216502198>Billy Mitchell>video game player of the century
>>216502198The issue I have with Billy is that he is clearly very good, but he cannot stand that he isn't the best and his ego is tremendous. Good cheaters are ones who fudge the numbers just enough that they can't be easily discovered, and are egocentric as their egotism can paradoxically make people pay attention to whatever your niche hobby is. And usually that's good for everyone, which means hurting that person's reputation or removing them is bad in general. Look at what happened to the popularity of cycling in the United States after he was no longer useful to professional cycling's image. They decided to actually pretend like they hadn't known he'd been doping the entire time (and continue to pretend that virtually no one else does), that they had recently come across this information, stripped him of his medals, and then that was it. No more interest in cycling. With Billy, it's a different kind of story because King of Kong didn't do anything to the retro scene at the time (it was too small). Yet also unfortunately for Billy, the retro game scene now has bloated to a size completely outside of his influence and it is not one he can take any actual credit for building as the primary way people know him is as a guy who may have cheated in King of Kong, that has a crazy haircut, and sues people (justifiably or not).
