Wake me up when CinemaScope makes a return.

Why do you always hear them talk about having to refurbish these old cameras or having to take the David Lean lens out of a museum to use it for a movie and not just having more new ones made? What makes it so hard to just make a new camera or lens?

they make new lenses all the time, but cinematographers like to think that using old lenses gives "character" to the image

yes, all the hacks in hollywood are using it

Lanthimos' Bugonia, Emerald Fennel's Wuthering Heights, Alejandro G. Iñárritu new film, Greta Gerwig's Narnia, Euphoria Season 3 are all Vistavision

fun fact, there are only two Vistavision cameras in the world adapted to shoot dialog scenes (they are very noisy) and the bad guy from avatar owns them

We’ve lost the technology. It’s like Roman concrete

Bugonia looked nice, but VV was a waste for a movie mostly shot in a basement

I want Cinerama to make a comeback

but we rediscovered how to make roman concrete ages ago

Vista Vision in modern films is only used as a gimmick, so who cares?
