The corpo bitch with a heart of gold and Predator finding a Grogu was also trite but ultimately well done. Unlike with Alien and the disaster of Alien Earth most Yautja focused stories have tried to make something more understandable out of their honor culture. It's borderline Klingon. This makes them less of a "horror" alien and more understandable which makes them appear toothless compared to the originals. However, the creative rut of "predators be hunting humans" hasn't panned out well across many attempts to recapture that vibe. Predators killed the series for a bit, The Predator AKA autism is my superpower was widely panned despite the R rating. The previous biggest box office was Aliens vs Predator, and now Badlands is the king. Clearly people respond more to an AvP universe and to Predator as antihero stories.
