The directing was also underwhelming. Compared to “Lovecraft Country” which aired on HBO at the same time, it was less creative, with “Lovecraft Country” being like a bunch of genre TV shows mixed together. Also, “Lovecraft Country” was basically racist as fuck, simply vilifying all White people as racist savages, with practically no redeeming white characters, and any that might be, still being vilified. Watchmen was sort of forgettable as a TV show.
I haven't seen it but I think Watchmen is one of the best comics ever made. And from what I heard of this show it's basically HBO woke fanfic from HBOs current worst era. Like there is genuinely no reason for the main character to be black. There's no reason to make Dr Manhattan black. There's no reason to make Riecharch some chud villain, almost like nobody read the comic. This is Disney+ tier MCU shit like She-Hulk not being based on Savage She Hulk or Sensational and instead being based on the shitty later runs not made by the original people.

The first couple episodes were utterly awful. It eventually got better. Started out as a 3/10 and eventually rose to a 6. I didn't regret finishing it. And I love King but she was not the right choice for this role, probably got selected because of her previous work with Lindelof on Leftovers, where she truly shined.

I'm literally an "angry at woke superheroes" guy and I loved it.It wasn't mindlessly woke. The woke people in the show got what they wanted and it still didn't fix anything. The crazy conspiracy guy was right about everything. Its smarter than gay woke trash
