Fill me in on Harland Williams
>>
he's an actor
>>
You'll have to ask Sam Hyde, who got thoroughly filled in himself.

He's a weirdo Canadian whose big break was a shitty Disney movie no one remembers (Rocketman.) His stand up is mostly absurdity, randumbness, and repeating noises to the point that he's stimming. I remember a comedy special where his obsession was saying "Oh Billy Sweet Billy," after every joke. What makes him "funny" is that he says things that don't make sense.
He got cast in Half Baked because he acts like he's high but he doesn't do drugs and actively hates weed. Which is funny because Violent J got him for Big Money Hustlas so Shaggy 2 Dope could smoke weed with someone from Half Baked and he doesn't even smoke.
Also, he created Puppy Dog Pals for Disney Jr. because he's a sell-out.

Nick Rochefort and Harland Williams were on Kill Tony and the Sam Hyde podcast that Nick was on got mentioned not once. Harland hates Sam Hyde so much that he wouldn't even talk about the most relevant episode of his podcast for a laugh. On Nick's part, he has been going full tilt into building the Scuffed Realtor brand that he's shopping around a reality show about remodeling his house and part of that is separating his brand from Sam's brand. While he's still on PGL, he doesn't talk about "Sammy" much anymore on his own.

This generations Dennis Miller. Hasnt changed his act and makes completely obscure references to things when he was young, that no one else knows.

That's a Gen X thing. Ever read Milk and Cheese? Most of it is Evan Dorkin talking about sitcoms of the 1970s.

He's done some pretty funny standup but it's an "acquired taste" for some.... and maybe
best consumed in small doses. He got cast as a character actor in some "classic" 90s/00s comedies. But his best work is his appearances on Conan; he was a Top 10 guest for guaranteed weirdness along with Norm MacDonald and Jeff Goldblum.

People itt are mentioning other stuff but that's really all I knew about until recently, when he exposed "Sam Hyde", a known fraud, grifter, and /tv/ advertiser.

Harlan is a comedian's comedian, but he's like the polar opposite of Norm Macdonald if that makes any sense.

Norm would tell every joke with this deadpan straight delivery that would really throw people off who weren't expecting it.

Harland just throws out random non-sequiturs, making all the other comics try to play straight for him.
The thing is, that makes you let your guard down thinking he's a dumbass, and then he will destroy a heckler with the most savage insult of all time which lets you know that the corny randomness uncle schtick is just a character.

That comedy special of him alone on top of a plateau doing stand-up without an audience was interesting. Such a weird idea but the visual setting and his unusual comedy made it work.

>then he will destroy a heckler
He seems good with crowd work generally. One one of his old standup specials, the last third or so was just him chatting with people in the audience, which seemed odd to include in the special, but it was funny, not side-splitting, but funny. He's self-deprecating and generally a nice guy, no chip on his shoulder or "intellectual" pretensions.

Yeah i really like him but I guess all I'm saying is you gotta make sure he's the only guy in the room trying to do the random thing.
I watched a clip of him going on the Matan podcast and they just sat there trying to out-random eachother and I couldn't stand it.

i clicked on the livestream link to that kill tony show and harland seemed fairly charismatic and spoke very clearly, he was the least displeasing one on the panel and that includes rochefort and certainly tony
