Why did earlier decades seem like they had so much going on? Compare that to say the 2010s where 2019 is practically the same as 2010.

i thought she had her scalp removed in the first bit

Culture has stagnated for the past 10 years. The last memorable era was the whole Hipster era of the early 2010s. After that it's been nothing but politics and TikTok
>>
I can't believe a cheap TikTok nailed period-accurate lighting, set design and colour grading better than 99% of modern filmmaking.

>Why did earlier decades seem like they had so much going on?
You are too close to notice.

Also, your webm is cherry picking very different stereotypes. The 1995 goth look could have been 1985 or 2005.
>>

Internet has caused it to become blurrier and harder to notice cultural phases like they did back then. capitalizing on the exact decade was more common in the past. It could become its own branding. the difference between 2016, 2020 and 2024 is extremely noticeable when you stop and think about it. 20 years from now, they will easily segment it into marketable nostalgia phases. It's already happening with the 00s and early 10s
>>
>>216520821
Starting in the early 2000s, there was little in the way of new style and it was just a remix of old ones. That, combines with the major elements of the culture changing from outward looks to online interaction, makes it difficult to really define anything post 2007ish visually.

Its literally nothing compared to say 1996, 2000 and 2004

Because you lived through it. like I said, it will be segmented into marketable nostalgia in your lifetime

You’re mostly correct and you will be attacked for it.

Being under 16 before 2004 doesn't count before some jeet tries to call me younger than a 96 birthdate.

To be fair, between 2020 and 2024 we had:

>Ukraine War
>Fall of Afghanistan
>Isreali/Gaza war
>Trump Reelection
>massive backlash of leftist policies and a general cultural shift to the right
>Collapse of Hollywood
>Mainstreaming of Anime/Japanese/Asian culture more than any point in the past few decades
>Covid and it's effects such as inflation
>3 Olympic games

And that's not to mention 2025, which saw a new pope, a massive global trade war, near conflicts between India and Pakistan, conflict and revolution throughout the third world and South East Asia, a major assassination of a prominent right wing figure, and even the longest gov shutdown in the history of the US

Not him but do people really care about Afghanistan? There was never going to be a happy ending, if anything you should be glad we're not sending zoomers over there to stand around in the desert and get shot at/mortared/IED'd occasionally.

9/11 killed America's soul

Do you really not see what a dumb fucking question that is?
>>
>>216520821
Cultural acceleration via algorithm driven trends has caused the broad decade-trends of the past to be compressed into years or even months. Remember during lockdowns when everything was about baking your own bread or whatever?

Do you really not see why kids love cinnamon toast crunch?
