Hugo Weaving's face blending into the frame always cracked me up as a kid. I still don't really think his face works for an elf, but I did get used to him over the years.

The slomo shot of Aragorn with the Army of the Dead feels pretty dated nowadays.

Yeah the green ghosts always looked cheap and too Pirates of the Caribbean to me. I know Pirates did it first, but somehow in my mind LotR predates it.
