I've only seen the anime but yeah that ending was shit. None of the issues that let to his withdrawal get resolved and half of this show that's apparently about a serious contemporary societal issue is just the main characters fucking around in Akihabara blowing their parents' money on useless overpriced shit, and making a shitty shovelware game.
