Ikr any film depicting anything prior to present day MUST highlight the racism/sexism/homophobia/transphobia/red scare/WASP privilege that made it an unlivable nightmare

I bet you suck at baseball and hate things that are universally liked

I mean yeah. Media that portrays the "good old days" as a paradise is neglecting the fact that for the majority of folks it just wasn't

>The Goonies
>nostalgic
For what, One-Eyed Willy's 1600s? It was made in the '80s and set in the '80s, it might be nostalgic now but it wasn't trying to evoke nostalgia for an earlier time when it was made. I think you misunderstood the topic.

This was racist af for the 80s
>>

Yeah bad shit happens today too do you immediately discount a family friendly comedy set in the modern day if it doesn't have rape and murder?

Post war? A Christmas Story took place in 1940. The United States didn't enter World War 2 until late 1941. Are you talking about World War 1(1914-1918)? If so, then 1940 would have been 22 years later.
>>
>>216524556
Yes.
Sitcoms had "very special episodes" for a reason.
>>
>>216523251
I can't wait for 2010s nostalgia.

Theory: Nostalgia isn't moving on from the '80s to the '90s because the post Cold War, pre 9/11 1990s was genuinely better than what we have now in every way. People can't use the same arguments they use about earlier eras not being better because "akshully some things were worse"; There was less social division of every kind than there is now. Everyone except the very rich was better off. They don't want you to remember any of that or for the generations born later to know. If we do get '90s nostalgia, it is going to misrepresent and shit on that decade hard.
