now that its been a decade and the dust has settle I ask , if they were just going to do a lazy retreading of the OT, why didn't they just outright do a remake?
>>216531402Because if a remake replaced R2D2 with BB8 then nobody would like BB8.
>>216531402A remake would have been even worse and received by the public even worse.
>>216531431>worsehow? how can it be worse than sequels redoing the previous story with implication that nothing in the previous movie mattered?
Should have just made a proper sequel and had a higher tier jew with actual talent tard wrangle JJ Abrams.
>>216531402Because then they wouldn't be able to put old stuff in it to milk boomer nostalgia?
>>216531487You can’t replace characters like Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise. Your movie would end up owing audiences money
>>216531402Goodwill towards remakes had long since soured
>>216531402The force answers the call
Because if you say outright that it's a remake everyone will go "pssh I've already seen this, I don't need to see it again" and boomers will complain about how it could never be as good as the originalBut if you tell everyone it's a new movie while secretly making it almost but not exactly like the old one they'll go "wow that was great it reminded me of the old one". They did the same shit with Jurassic Park and a few other franchises that I can't remember because this approach is a sign that everyone involved is creatively bankrupt and guaranteed to produce forgettable garbage in the long-run. I and many others pointed this out on here when TFA first came out and all anyone could do was say "well they had to make it that way bro it was what the fans were demanding the next movies are going to be different there's so many places they could go with these awesome characters"
