would it really be that bad to put this on disney+ with like whoopi goldberg at the beginning going like “that’s just how it was then”?

Because it depicts slavery as it really was, not the nu-marxist horseshit of Roots and everything else that seem to think wealthy people spending tons of money and resources on their workers would needlessly whip them and treat them poorly because muh racism.

I think there is a good quality 1080p copy of this on archive dot org. Who gives a shit about Disney+ ?

The movie itself is pretty mediocre but the American liberal reaction to it is interesting. In the movie the rich white people are good guys along with the former slaves and the bad guys are poor white rednecks.

The overly evil image of racism in the past is hilarious because if you take literally two seconds to think about it it makes no sense. Why would whites even free them, or allow them to become citizens? By the cruelty stated which was so widespread, you'd think slave owners all would have killed their property ans then the kkk wipe out the rest of all of the blacks. But that's not remotely what happened

A lot of "slaves" didn't want to be freed or leave their plantations. Since the import of new slaves was outlawed in 1807, by 1865 you had generations of people whose entire lives were lived on the plantation. You want to talk about breaking up families and communities, cleaving "slaves" from their geographic, familial, and community ties did far more harm than good for many of them.
