Best sci fi show. I watched it for the first time in uni, and I laughed so hard at "Kansas" (when they went to Earth but 20 years in the past, drugged a cop into seeing D'Argo as a black guy, made him become a ufologist in the future, and kid Crichton lost his virginity to Chiana) that my flatmate came over to my room to ask me if everything's ok.

OK anyone wanna explain quickly what this show is? I'm old and remember when it was on but it seemed like a Deep Space Nine kind of show so avoided it. I tried to watch 20 minutes of it on some yt stream of it and the characters looked cool but I had no idea what the fuck was going on. What is this like? Red Dwarf meets Deep Space Nine meets Battlestar Galactica or something?

It's hard to explain. S1 is kinda dull, but after that it gets damn near perfect. At times it's perfect adventure sci-fi, other times goofy tv, but always good. Also the love story between John and Aeryn hits right in the feels.

I don't know if I'd recommend skipping episodes. It starts off weak, but the slow burn pays off with callbacks. The character from this thread's image and the main villain don't show up until near the end of the first season.
