You realise this movie is something special when you see the way Japanese people talk about it. Clint Eastwood knocked it out of the fucking park, Letters from Iwo Jima is a masterpiece.

Haven't seen it, but I heard its really good.
Wasn't this made alongside another movie? Flags of our Fathers or am I getting that mixed up?

Yea you got it right. Flags of our Fathers is the weaker film of the two. You should watch Letters from Iwo Jima.

>Clint Eastwood with Letters From Iwo Jima
>Mel Gibson with Apocalypto
Any more examples of chuds making badass movies from the perspective of a foreign culture?

Seconding the other Anon that Letters from Iwo Jima is the better film, but they're really worth watching together. You get the American POV in one and the Japanese POV in the other. Super unique gimmick and it's used very well; each film contributes to the understanding of the other.
